45 year old white male. I'm 6'4.5" tall so the weight doesnt look as bad as if I was shorter - or so I have been telling myself for years

Before the summer I decided to do something about it. Around last Xmas I wseighed in at 332lbs at the Drs. I weighed in at 328 at home so take your pick.

My weight had plataued as it had been increasing by 10-15lbs per year but by Xmas had stopped rising (stopped drinking) and by the summer had come down to about 320. I used the summer vacation when I was more active to eat more sensibly and got it down to about 310. After a couple more weeks I discovered fatsecret and suddenly I realised calorie counting was no longer such a pain as to be impossible - I simply carried my blackberry everywhere and I had everything at my fingertips.

I've now reached 281 a Xma later so the diet is going well. I make some basic rules about always weighing in the morning, naked, after a poop and a pee so I'm empty. That way I have a consistent method that doesn't vary due to standard bodily fluctuations.

My diet is designed to be simple and yet avoid my normal pitfalls. I realised - reading around - that only calorie controlled diets work

I eat what I want (no rules), I do what I want (no enforced exercise) but have one rule which is that intake must not exceed burn off output of calories. Input must be less than output - which means rigorous recording of everything, which of course fatsecret makes simple. In fact my target maximum daily input calorie count is calculated by using the fatsecret RDI calculated for weight-loss for a person my size and subtracting 400kCal from it. Therefore I allow myself up to 2300 kCal a day of any food as this prevents cravings. 2300 is still quite a lot of food.

Note that just resting and sleeping I burn off 3000kCal a day and with my office based work added in that is then normally 3500+kCal a day as output. No exercise!

I have the same problem with my wife - in every room. Things go missing and to make it worse she forgets where she put them.

It sounds like hubby is OCD bound. Withdraw benefits until he plays fair.

BMI calculator needed
FatSecret rocks but needs a BMI calculator. A forecasting tool that suggests when you weight goal will be achieved would be good too.

The 'recently eaten' is a bit useless in that it doesnt go back far enough and only covers 1 meal time (I eat at random times)

This tool has saved my life. Finally something that helps me in the simple, self contained way I needed. I've already lost 35lbs - just another 120 to go Sad
