I am 54 years old. I have 3 kids and gained weight with each pregnancy and more. I was up to 245 pounds and had success with the low carb/high protein diet. I was down to around 190 pounds when I got hit by a car. I was walking up a flight of stairs and a man mistakenly drove his car down the stairs and hit me. I have not been able to work since then, nor have I been able to walk very far without a cane or walker. That was 6 1/2 years ago and I found myself at 245 pounds again. After my youngest went off to college last year, I lost 10 pounds by making foods more to my liking than hers. Recently I found out that I have colitis and can no longer tolerate milk products. This includes anything made with milk products also, such as bread, crackers, salad dressings, etc. This has jump started me into really watching what I eat and trying to lose more weight. It has taken me 7 months to gradually work up to 30 minutes on a stationary bike. That is the most aerobic exercise I can do due to my physical limitations. I do physical therapy several times a week. I list it as Pilates in the exercise journal as I think that is the closest thing listed that equates to my PT. Being so sedentary makes it quite difficult to lose weight. But I am determined. My oldest daughter will be married next June, and I don't want to have to wear a "tent" to the wedding. Wish me luck!!1

Dealing with needing new clothes
Yes, I have thought of that of taking clothes in too that are too big. I usually prefer to donate clothes, but finances may necessitate trying resale at this point. Thanks again for all the input.

Thanks for all the ideas. I am "apple" shaped, so haven't worn a belt in years. But maybe that is what I need to do, shop for a belt. Not sure I remember how to wear one! LOL Thanks again.

Dealing with needing new clothes
For those who have lost a lot of weight, but have a lot more to lose, how do you deal with the clothes issue? My funds are quite limited, but I hate wearing the clothes that are too big now, but I hate spending a lot of money on clothes that will also not fit well in a few more weeks, (hopefully anyhow LOL). I have shopped a little at thrift stores, but with not too much luck. I am asking for clothes that are a little smaller than what I can wear right now for Christmas. That will help for the near future, plus help keep me motivated to keep at it so I can wear those new clothes. Smile I realize that you can wear tops for awhile that are too big, but pants are the real problem. Maybe I need to ask for a belt too for Christmas! Thanks for any input!

Anyone else terrified of Thanksgiving
That is a good idea about munching on the raw veggies. We go to my sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving, and if the past is any indication the only healthy thing available will be the turkey. So I think I will pack some raw veggies to take with me. But the Christmas holidays will be challenging also. There are too many sweet goodies around. But keeping the food diary really helps. It shows you the truth!

What goal weight should be?
Thanks for everyone's input. I'm still not sure if I will change my goal weight or not. I wish FS would let you do 2 goals at once. The long term, and then short term ones too. And Kate, did you have mini goals along the way then, or did you always have 180 as your goal? And of course you look wonderful at 180.
