I'm 31, professional, and like many of you, have struggled with weight for most of my life. In January 2010 when I joined fatsecret, I was just over 200 pounds, as heavy as i had been in my whole life. I committed to the South Beach diet for 2 months (with a friend) and lost about 15 pounds. It felt great! Here I am, 6 months later, still 15 pounds down but no closer to my goal of 150! So, I'm re-committing, finally getting back to the gym and seeing where this journey can take me. I'm a busy girl with a great boyfriend, wonderful friends and family, a demanding job and, of all things, a food blog. I love to cook and eat, but I'm convinced I can find a balance between my life-long love of food and my desire and need to be fitter and healthier. Here we go!
10/18/11- Time for an update! As of this morning, I have lost FORTY POUNDS! It has taken almost 2 years. I have learned so much during this time. I have learned how to listen to my hunger, make smart food choices, and love exercise. I've learned its just as fun to cook healthy foods as it is to cook fattening ones, so I have not had to give up my favorite hobby!
This website has been hugely helpful to me as a place to journal/vent, sounding board, and calorie counter (counted every bite for over a year, now I am focusing on eating intuitively, something I NEVER thought I could do and still lose).
I now exercise at least 5 times a week. I LOVE bodypump class and truly believe that incorporating strength training was a key to keeping my weight loss going and also in giving me muscles and definition I never thought possible. I refuse to be skinny fat!
I have 11 more pounds until I reach my "goal" of 150, which I originally set when I weighed 201 pounds. But even when I reach 150, this is not over. I can't even imagine going back to a sedentary lifestyle, making poor food choices, etc. I love my healthy lifestyle (not a DIET) and can't wait to see how much I can transform my body!
