To kick off our retirement, last summer my husband and I took a 4,200 mile tandem bike trip through six countries while sleeping in a tent. Three thousand miles into the trip I was putting on weight, especially going through Germany (beer gartens) and crossing France (cheese and bread). The last twelve hundred miles, riding the Cotswolds, I decided to go low carb. I read Gary Tabues' book "Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It" and the weight came off like magic. A sixty year old grandma and I felt like I was in the best shape that I have ever been in. However, being a person who has ALWAYS fought extra weight, I have now in six months, put on ten pounds since returning home. It is time to turn it around BEFORE it becomes twenty!
