I was surprised to see that my weight went down by 1.5 kilos. I did not want to check my weight today but I had a feeling I gained weight, so I checked. It's a nice feeling but I have the habit of becoming over-confident and not following my diet well enough after a small success. Perhaps I should have waited a little bit longer until the scheduled weigh in date.

My family feels that I am not eating as much as I should. BUT, the truth is that if I eat more than 800 Calories per day, I start gaining weight. I need to be under 600 Calories in order to be able to lose some weight. Perhaps because I have a strange metabolic rate or perhaps because I simply sit at the computer and work all day. I had a hip replacement for my left hip and both of knee joints partially replaced as well a few years back. I still have necrosis on my right hip but I need to lose a bit more weight to have the surgery. I know that after surgery I am prone to gaining weight so I want to make sure I am going through to have a smooth recovery. I was 48 kilos in 2012 when I had my surgery. I am 51 now and perhaps no one believes me but I feel each and every kilo I put on, even if there are just three kilos now. It is incredibly hard for me when I climb stairs and I am so afraid that I may lose track of what I eat and gain weight again. I was 66 kilos at one point after surgery in 2014.I felt horrible about myself at the time and I still don't like myself very much today.

Yesterday I ate just a bit less than usual and felt a lot lighter. I also noticed I am always sleeping better when I don't go to bed with a full tummy. Unfortunately, constipation continued to be a problem for me, which one of the reasons I went vegan besides a strong ethical and environmental motivation.

I started my vegan diet exactly three weeks ago on September 24th, 2016. I've been accommodating to a diet without eggs and fish, which is what I long for most of all. I've also tried to observe the foods that don't agree with me and the foods that most agree with me. My purpose for keeping this diary is to see how nutritious my current diet is and what I should change about it. It is not difficult to keep away from animal foods since my motivation for going vegan is ethical and environmental. It is difficult to eat a balanced diet, a challenge that I think most people have trouble with.
