I love to eat. I grew up in a family that loves to eat, especially bread. I love to eat bread. In fact, if my family ever created a family crest, in Latin along the top it would read, "Always ask for more bread!" I am not kidding.
However, as I creep up in weight, my joints and back are killing me. I have to stop. I do not want to be "that guy" who says "I'm too old to (fill in the blank)." I want to be a healthy weight while eating healthy satisfying food, and I'd like to do it socially.
I started on the Atkins diet about five weeks ago and have lost maybe 6 pounds total. After I tweaked my knee I scaled back the bike riding but that seems to have recovered.
My plan going forward is to keep my carbs at or below 30g per day net while exercising for at least 45 minutes three times a week, at a minimum.

My 8 week goal, starting 10/08 and completing on 11/26, is to weigh 200 lbs.
My goal by the time my birthday rolls around in February is to weigh 190.
My goal by April 1 is to weigh 185.
