Hi all, thought it was time I shared a little info. I'm 47, 5'5", married and have two teenagers, 17 and 15. I have always been really good at losing weight but unfortunately when I get there I don't seem to be very good at keeping it off. What seems like a tiny bit of overeating and a pound or two goes back on each month, it soon adds up. There has always been a correlation between my weight and how much exercise I do so this time I am trying to get myself strong and fit in addition to losing weight. Since Jan I have been going to "bootcamp", a military style circuits class, 3 times a week. It is outdoors and I love it. I also play tennis and a bit of racketball. I want to see if I can get superfit- if I can do it then anyone can. As of 28th Feb 2016 I can almost do a proper press up. Would love to be able to "crank them out". Ha, how life changes, never thought doing a few press ups would be living the dream. Good luck to you all. This journey is a long one but tiny steps make all the difference.

In that case is there any possibility that you can incorporate any uphill sections on your walks. I think this adds resistance and will increase muscle strength.

How to ensure no muscle loss in Atkins
You need to lift weights - I do a class at my gym called body pump which is weightlifting to music. It s amazing what a difference it has made. Though not on Atkins I am sure all my weight loss is fat not muscle.

Hi. Am I doing something wrong? When I update my weight info I am checking the boxes to feed the information in to my challenges but they are not being updated at all. Is this a technical glitch with fatsecret or am I missing something?

Need some advice
Abbie - I always tell myself that the most difficult bit of exercise is stepping out of the door. If I only have that small barrier to overcome then it seems possible. If you need tips and encouragement I have been reading a website called nerd fitness which has some great tips about about doing it one step at a time and some good motivational stories. Incidentally before November I did hardly any exercise but now do at least 5 hrs per week and I'm amazed at how much better I feel. Logging it on your exercise chart is a good way to see that you do have time - try and get those resting hours down from 16 - it is much more difficult than you think.
