Oh, jeez ... teach me to ingest things without a little research first. I went shopping at my local health food store today, and I wanted a cup of coffee. My sweetener choices were Sugar in the Raw and NuNaturals Stevia (I can't stand black coffee, so no sweetener wasn't an option). I'd never had NuNaturals Stevia, and I'd never heard of any issues with stevia anyways, so I opted for that. BIG MISTAKE. I got home, ate dinner and took my evening's dose of metformin ... and now, the headache and dizziness are ferocious. After a little internet searching, I learned that stevia can cause headaches and dizziness in people with seasonal allergies, which I have in spades, and that it can also interact negatively with diabetes medication, lowering blood glucose past safety. I ate dinner and took my metformin only an hour ago; I'm going to wait another hour, then take a blood glucose reading. At least I know now: no stevia, ever. Should have avoided the coffee. Dammit, dammit, dammit ...
