I am 49 and have battled my weight for over 40 yrs now. I was never grossly obese but I was most always overweight throughout my childhood, after age 8, and for most of my adult life. My highest recorded adult weight was 275 lbs., although I know I was bigger and just wouldn't weigh in.
I was married for 15 yrs and I had lost over 80 lbs 11 yrs ago during and after the divorce. I was back down below my high school graduating weight and was in the best shape of my life. I kept most of that weight off for around 5 of those yrs, but slowly allowed it to creep back on over the last six yrs.
So, on Jan 1, 2010 I decided to take back control of my life because I was topping the scales at 274 lbs. again! I followed the Atkins diet for a while and lost around 30 lbs. I then joined a 10 week Ultimate Body Challenge and lost down to 224 lbs. 50 lbs. gone in less than 6 months. Then, my mother died two weeks after I completed the program and I have not exercised since that time. However, I was able to maintain that weight to within a few pounds for nearly 6 months.
I have had high blood pressure since I was 18 yrs old and was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea in March of 2010, just before I though I was having a heart attack in April of 2010 and found out that I had some clogged arteries.
I have fallen off the wagon for the last 16 months and have gained back a lot of the weight that I had worked so hard to get off. I have got to regain control again and I'm hoping to learn even more about my body and what additional foods do and don't work for me. I had reached a plateau and just gave up hope for a while. I need discipline and a breakthrough right now to help get me to the next level. My ultimate goal weight is 175 lbs.
