I reset my starting weight yesterday. A clean slate so that I stop worrying over how low the scale used to be and treat it like a new challenge. Also a visual reminder to myself that the weight is not the primary concern- health should be my driving factor.

I have 10 days until I see my endocrinologist. I wanted to be able to have results so that we have a clear path going forward. I still dream that someday I'll be able to stop the vitamin injections and have my hormones produced naturally. I don't know if my thyroid will work again, but since they don't know why it stopped I keep hoping. This is also the visit where we decide if I need to start some form of hormone replacement therapy. I'm guessing no, since I'm better than I was? Although, I'm usually just hoping to have enough hormones for a TOM at all/every once in a while.

I know that certain foods cause certain reactions for me. I need to find out what in my diet lately has brought back some of the other symptoms. Maybe it's just the continued cheating? I realized yesterday I'd started to limp again. Last night I discovered I couldn't sleep on either side again because the joint pain was worse. This morning I was all swollen and painful. Cheating on my diet in little doses brings acne, cheating big brings pain. As much as I've talked all week about getting back on track- this is a wake up call. I CANNOT go back to crippling arthritis. I will not allow it.

I need to go back and figure exactly what causes the acne flare ups.
Try to find out exactly what caused the joint pain to come back.
I know so far that eating broccoli causes migraines. Eating tomatoes or spices (not sure which yet) causes migraines. Gluten completely stops my digestion for a few days and dairy causes the opposite (and migraines if I have too much).
Too much processed food/salt/sugar also messes up my stomach and can cause a migraine. Or maybe it's too much fat? I hate that I don't know these answers as absolutely as I'd like.
I do know that if I eat anything at all with sugar in it- it's the gateway drug that causes cravings and sends me spiraling out of control.

Positive side: since I started the diet, even with the cheating, I haven't had any episodes of muscle weakness and shaking until I fall. I've very rarely had the stabbing stomach pains and then only when I cheated on the diet. I don't bruise quite as easily and I don't get lightheaded as often. And I can still be happy that I stopped taking a selection of my prescriptions without negative effects.

I will try to remember that if I give into laziness when I don't feel like working, moving, or eating right... it could mean that I will soon not be able to work, move, or eat at all.

Not that I am a dr, have you thought of 'shingles'. What you decribe is like what I get when I get stressed with the acne & pain and it turns out to be a mild case of shingles. Just food for thought, unless there is a food you are reacting to?

Thanks, I don't think I've ever checked into shingles. :) I haven't ever noticed it linked to stress, just food. But sometimes I eat those foods when I am stressed.

Wow I cannot believe your thyroid has stopped working!! I'm so new to following you that I would NEVER have believed that you suffered from such crippling pain too!! You are such a trooper and have such an amazing mindset! You will get through this! And I too hope that your thyroid starts working again!!
