Dr. Yoni Freedhoff interviews Dr. Kevin Hall at #ICO2016 in Vancouver, 1 May 2016. First presentation of "definitive" NuSI metabolic ward study. Conclusion: no metabolic advantage to ketogenic diet

No advantage to avoiding a large amount of food options. If anything, it's a disadvantage since maybe you can lead a more normal social life/diet by dropping it.

Phil, when have I ever tried to talk someone out of a diet plan? I may say it's unnecessary to restrict certain foods, but if someone prefers to diet in a certain manner, more power to them. I do attempt to dispel myths. Myths like the ability to gain fat despite a calorie deficit. My sig says"Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals." Thanks!

Pushing pseudoscience to back up your argument is fraudulent. Strong opinions are great, but you push a lot of hokum as scientific fact, and that's not copacetic.

The law of thermodynamics is hokum. Ok, you win. :)

The article that started this thread is hokum.

The law of thermodynamics was not intended to apply to living creatures. The T-Factor diet was popular in the late 80's and was based on the thermodynamics idea. Tried it, gained weight, hungry all the time.

If people had been successful on that diet (and if it had some proof that it worked) it would probably still be around today.

Misapplication of a law(s) of physics doesn't prove anything, it really just illustrates a gross fundamental misunderstanding on the part of the people trying desperately to extrapolate something from nothing (which violates laws of physics all in it's own right).

What he said (<----Phil)

Still be around today? What, you mean calorie counting? It is alive and helping people succeed. There are countless calorie counting websites that have helped millions lose weight. This one is one of the smaller ones with outdated diets that people are biased towards. My fitness pal is much larger than this one and the knowledgeable members on there would laugh at people like knuckles and phil for trolling. CICO, gentleman, is the truth. Simple math.

Also, people keep throwing around their self reported calorie intake as gospel. They couldn't stick to it, couldn't accurately count calories, didn't weigh all your foods, burned out, etc. and now you're giving your anecdotes that are worth nothing. They are just proof that you can't be consistent.

CICO is the reason Phil lost weight on LCHF(900-1000 calorie), Knuckles loses on Keto(eats 2k calories when he burns 5k+), people lose on Weight Watchers(a calorie counting method that uses points instead), and why I lose eating pizza, cookies and ice cream daily. CICO. Yep, calorie counting is alive and well, you can call your diet anything you like, but at the end of the day you're counting calories. Maybe you're not logging it but your body is :)

Diablo, this is one of my real problems with you. You don't know when to stop. You don't know that it is not ok to attack people because they don't believe the same things you do. Why do you need to attack Phil and I on a personal level like this? How can you call us troll's? Because we use a differing method then some people on a different web sight? WTF do you know man. Have you ever been obese? Have you ever had a food addiction? Or a Body image problem? I really doubt it. You tout your gym bro knowledge without understanding that some of us are hurting emotionally as well as physically. We Grasp at straws to keep our selves afloat every day. Some of us so much so that without these people to talk to, one of us may just eat ourselves into a coma. Or worse. not be able to hack it anymore and just end it all. don't you get it man. Telling a person they are wrong for doing what works for them is NOT HELPING. We have heard what you are saying. We know what CICO is and what it means and how it works. Let it go man. Be supportive of the PERSON. Not the system. If you cant support us and what works for us, then maybe you should move on to My fitness pal where you FIT IN better. We don't need you here breaking down what we find works for us.

Do what works for you but don't throw around nonsense and shame people for eating sugar. The sugar in fruit is not making people fat. It is just another source of calories. The sugar in everything else is broken down in the same manner, whether it comes from HFCS or anything else. I never said, quit doing Keto, do what works for you, but I am not going to stand by when you give false info. I'm pretty sure that if you took my last 50 posts and yours, there would be a lot more threats profanity and name calling in yours, so I am not sure why you say that I'M the one attacking people.....

This is exactly what I am talking about. You just couldn't accept what I said. you had to throw shit right back into my face. Just don't talk to me anymore. Seriously dude. Don't talk to me. Its always I am right and you are wrong. you just cant leave people alone. Get the behind me Lucifer.

"Shame people for eating sugar". I don't think I've done that, but what it sounds like is that you know in the back of your mind sugar isn't good for you, and it's not, but I don't care if you keep eating sugary garbage. My problem is that you keep parroting these pseudoscience studies, the term "gym bro" really fits, it's obvious you aren't familiar with the scientific method. Hey, we can't all be educated, that's alright, but don't spout of pseudoscience garbage that you don't even understand.

Bye, Felicia.
03 May 16 by member: -Diablo
Yep, you heard it here, folks. Fruit is bad for you.
03 May 16 by member: -Diablo
Also, the shaming comes from Knuckles, not you. If you follow his posts on other peoples journals, you'd see that he believes people need a good shaming. LOL. Also, quit putting words in my mouth, I surely do not believe sugar or carbs are bad for you, they are the body's preferred energy source and are muscle sparing. Don't try to put your affliction of orthorexia nervosa on me.

Ok Bro. Gym me some posts where I SHAME people for eating fruit. I admit I warn people. But SHAME? Ill wait for some quotes.

Felicia? lol Is that your sister's name? I figured it would be more like hembra diabla. See, there's no call for all that, don't get mad. hahaha
