Rochelle Pasco's Journal, 10 May 2017

So, in the last week I gained a little bit. For the most part I have been following my program reasonably well. Saturday I performed at our studio's Gala, Dancing in the Sultans Garden. I bellydance. We had two shows and I did a solo in each. We eat in between our shows. It's a potluck so we all contribute. I brought celery stuffed with colby jack pimento cheese with a slice of black olive. I figured I better bring something I could eat even if no one else liked it! LOL! I was careful to eat only low carb things. No pasta salad, no sandwiches and no desert. Sat & Sunday I did not count. Sunday I allowed myself to have one pancake and a little mac and cheese. So I am up a little bit.

There are some good things I've noticed. Yesterday I did 10 girls push ups without having to stop. I have increased the weights for my work out. I actually think my biceps are bigger and my triceps jiggle a little less. When I picked up my 6 year old grandson a few weeks ago, I could handle him better. I exercise in the morning with Margaret Richards on the show Body Electric, on our local PBS station. I am trying to increase the times a week I get cardio.

It's not all about the weight loss. It's about the steps. Making better choices over all and getting back into shape. In June of 2015 I was in a car accident and hurt my foot. Car accident wasn't that bad, but I only had my toes on the brake. It tore a ligament in my foot. After having surgery and a long recovery with being on crutches for 6 months out of the year, at the end of 2015, I was out of shape and over weight. One doesn't plan on being injured, and we don't realize how hard the extra weight makes recovery. In the end I maxed out at 190. I managed to lose 10 lbs in 2016. I wasn't happy with the slow weight loss so I asked a friend how she had accomplished her weight loss. March 1, 2017 I started following her program, if you can call it that. Calories under 1200 and carbs under 50g. per day. I may cut my carbs back for a few days to accelerate my loss since I gained. This is the best way I've found for me. I am actually making progress.

I am sharing my solo picture. (I could not figure out how to post the complete picture, the bottom of the costume is beautiful) It was nice when several people asked...."Have you lost weight?"

I still have a ways to go but I'll continue, and I'll get there.
161.8 lb Lost so far: 18.4 lb.    Still to go: 26.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Belly dancing sounds like mad fun! My trick for guesstimating how much food from others and restaurants costs calorically is to calculate on the ingredients I can see, then add 500. Most people severely underestimate the amount of oil and butter cooks use, and portion sizes can be tripled.
