I'm still confused. I'm back losing weight but really not doing a lot different to the week where I put on weight every day for 8 consecutive days, 3kg in total. Still doing the keto diet, mainly just 3 meals a day: bacon and eggs for breakfast, salad or meat and veg for lunch, and meat/veg/cheese etc for dinner, but I am still a) eating out a few times a week, trying to choose the healthier options, and b) eating artificial sweeteners, which I said I'd quit. Ironically, the day I recorded the biggest loss this week was the morning after we accidentally ordered (and ate) a pizza on top of our soup and main course! Things like this rock my faith in the ketogenic diet completely. We had fasted for the remainder of the day though ...

I have tried so many different ways to throw my body into ketosis (we have a blood meter), and the highest reading I have ever had was 0.7, which is pathetic. Everything in Malaysia has sugar in it, so maybe we're inhaling the sugar? I have played with my macros, dropped protein to 55g and carbs to 20g, and still I didn't go into ketosis. There is one period before I got the meter I suspect it was working for all 3 of us- none of us were ravenously hungry for a few weeks. The rest of the time, we're hungry, I'm irritable, and all three of us experience sporadic weight losses and gains. I'm still 1kg heavier than I was in November, though I will admit to taking a number of weeks "off" the diet in that period. In the few weeks we were in Australia in December, though, husband was pretty "good" and tried to stick to the keto way of eating, I gave up completely and loaded myself with carbs, including loads of sugar. My weight gain: less than 2kg, his gain: 6kg.

No wonder I'm confused! I'm not ready to give up on weight loss, but I really need some success with this diet. I can't continue to put on up to 3kg every time I go away for a weekend then spend the next 3-6 weeks losing it. It's demoralizing. And my husband needs me to find an eating plan that will help him lose a lot more weight. Help, anyone? Btw, we're going away again this weekend and going to be pretty busy (KL Formula 1, meeting a new work colleague and a Chinese wedding banquet), so I might not get a chance to reply until after I get back, probably 3kg heavier. We might do some fasting on Saturday for damage control.

Oh, the one thing I changed this week: I've cycled nearly every day, only 15 minutes of interval cycling or 30 mins of cardio cycling. I've always said I need to exercise to lose weight!
175.0 lb Lost so far: 24.5 lb.    Still to go: 22.9 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
