Back on track and eating 100% to the programme and as a result have had the usual week 1 loss. Very happy to be losing weight again but I'm not sure whether I can expect continued weight loss in the coming weeks. In the past, I've lost great amounts in the first week, ok in the second and third week, then a plateau with very little weight loss thereafter. Maybe if I can stick at losing for the next few weeks, I can hit that elusive 76kg ("healthy weight"). My husband has also been stalling before his next major goal- both of us have been coming within a few kg of our goals then gaining then dropping, since November. It's very frustrating.

Any suggestions re avoiding plateaus on the ketogenic diet are welcome. We've tried 1. carb loading (most effective) 2. Cardio exercise 3. Intervals exercise 4. Decreasing protein, increasing fat 5. increasing carbs from 20g to 30g . We have a blood ketone tester and neither of us have ever achieved a reading over 0.7 so suggestions as to what we're doing wrong are also welcome. Sorry I have stopped entering

You can't avoid plateaus completely. You will always have plateaus. When you do, just think, " At least I'm not gaining." Have patience. Eat lots more veggies, not so much fat, lean protein (you can eat a lot of protein if it's lean), whole whole grains, minimum unwholesome carbs and as little processed foods as possible. My trainer said from the beginning, "You can exercise your brains out all day long but if you don't eat healthy you will never lose the weight." I try to remember that when I'm tempted to overdo. Another thing I do - weigh on a scale that shows you tenths of a pound. So when you think you're not losing because the scale makes you think you're on a plateau, you will see that at least you're probably loosing tenths of a pound. Each day, I write down what I weigh and I can see that I'm losing, maybe even two tenths but it's coming off. It takes work, but it's worth it at the end. Good luck.
