Saturday rest day! I am pooped. It is going to be a lovely day with a reasonable dew point. Will take the doogie to walk around the lake, but otherwise rest.

Yesterday was 100 days since i came to fs and got more serious about this quest to change myself from the outside in. I was inspired by a story a few years ago about a mother and daughter who did a "give it 100" (days) weight loss challenge and they lost 75# between them. My natural thought was to feel crappy that i have lost "only" 27#. (I had already lost 20 prior to that.)

But then i thought how weight loss is not my primary goal. My primary goal is to get to know and understand myself better and to take control of my emotions, my life and my destiny. I have been a frightened spectator in my own life for far too long, and i am not getting any younger. Mid-life crisis? Maybe. The fitness and weight loss are a very happy byproduct of what i am trying to accomplish.

And i gotta say, in the last 100 days, i have done well in terms of the big goal.
* I can honestly say i have been slowly learning to love and appreciate my body. I think of it as my friend now.
* I have been giving the exercise my best and have been consistent, even though i am not good at it. I have exercised more in the last 100 days than the previous 20 years combined.
* I have been making good inroads into not getting derailed when i slip up. Really striving for persistence rather than perfection.
* I tend to be a very gloomy and negative person. I am working to talk more constructively to myself and it is helping me have a better outlook.
* I have begun to slowly change my tastes and attitudes about food and eating. I am expanding my tastes while trying to curb my looking at eating as something to do.

Even though i did not put up some massive number in 100 days, 27# is nearly 2# a week, and i am smaller than i have been in 5 years. I am beginning to have increased mobility and balance. I am working out like a (big, clumsy) beast, and i know i am going to stick with it, at least for the next 100 days!

Like a lot of you, i came to fs just for tracking. I am not on other social media. but i really love the community! I have really appreciated and valued the support, encouragement and info sharing on the site too and find it to be an important part of my accountability and success thus far.

I love that outline of 100 days. I'm going to figure out what that day is for me and use it as a goal. Being open-ended is okay, but it's nice to have targets. I think that losing 2 pounds a week is amazing! The mom/daughter duo who lost more than that were probably on some sort of a meal-replacement diet that makes you lose really fast. Unfortunately, they don't teach you how to eat in real life, so once you go off the program it can be very difficult. I'm trying to retrain my brain so that I will instinctively make good choices for myself or be able to bounce back from a snacksident instead of throwing in the towel. Keep up the good work!

Ty socalpam! No, this was a thing that was on youtube and ppl made 8 second videos every day. They definitely did it the old fashioned way- hard work and diet. The give it 100 channel was since shut down, but those two gained some notoriety so you can still find them. Very inspiring.

Wow 2# a week is a phenomenal effort!! DOn't sell yourself short that is a great achievement you should feel really proud. And here you are after 100 days looking forward to the next 100?? Isn't that the best achievement of all - that you have found the enthusiasm to look forward to your new healthy lifestyle and to continue your efforts to get fitter!! I think that is amazing! Keep up the good fight <3 <3

Tyvm everyone! It is definitely a process! Also @socalpam: there is a website called daysfromdate calculator. Super helpful, as counting the days manually and accurately proves way too much for my middle-aged brain.

@jengetfit123, First let me thank you for your support of my entry yesterday, I appreciate it.....Secondly, I love what you said about how you feel, your self discovery, and perhaps a bit of midlife blues.....I'm right here with you through it all as I share your point of view..... I know with your mindset your going to accomplish anything you desire...sure it may take some time to get there but your already doing something about it and that is part of the battle---but what a story you'll have to tell. I'm here with you every inch and pound of the way ----I have much to lose too and know its gonna take me a while as well ---so we'll do it together with all of these other wonderful persons on FS..... Now get to Work 123 !!!!! (hehehe) ;D
