Ebony and Ivory2's Journal, 01 July 2012

Seriously. I have not gone off plan once since June 9th and here I sit. 3 full weeks of this and I've only lost 5#. That 5# was at the Dr fully clothed and I weigh naked, so I don't even know if I've lost any. I'm really, really, really getting discouraged. I am eating SO much differently I don't understand how this can be happening. What's the point?

You might want to evauluate your diet or exercise plan. I know for me, if I keep doing the same old thing all the time my weight begins to plateau. Don't get too discouraged--we all go through the same stuff!

You are doing pretty well at keeping your net carbs near or under the limit for induction so I don't think that is the problem. One word of advice I would give you is not to step on the scale every day like you've been doing. The day-to-day fluctuations will drive you nuts. One morning you're down a pound, by the next you're up two, and the next morning you're down three. For me I find weighing myself once per week in the morning is sufficient to track the general trend. A couple more hints and tips for Atkins you might not want to hear. I know a lot of those "Atkins Indulge" snacks say that they are appropriate for all phases of the diet. But for some people (myself included) they do cause your weight loss to stall. Another one that causes some people to stall: caffeine.

I found that I always did well on Atkins to start then stall and weight starts going up. This is with exercise and no cheating. I was pointed towards the Dukan diet by my doctor as I've been stalled for over a month and losing motivation and patience and in 7 days I lost 9lbs...on Atkins induction the best I could hope for was 2 pounds in 2 weeks. Maybe this diet just suits my body chemistry better...I don't know how to explain it...it works. This is something I can do forever. You have to follow it to the letter though and commit to it if you want good results. I was always a little leary of the saturated fat in Atkins even though my bloodwork was always fine. I dunno...just putting that out there.
