tiffany1908's Journal, 18 April 2018

Hello I have logged my weight loss and gain on FS since 2012 with no significant success. I have struggled with my weight for a long time. I am a wife and mother of a 16 year old son. I have done every diet you could possibly name and I still can’t seem to get it right. I would love to get off high blood pressure pills. Oh and I’m in my mid 40’s.
161.8 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 6.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

have you talked with MD or a certified dietitian? They can work with you for a personal plan.

well I would think MD would be a little bit more helpful. Look up some of the diet plans on internet. OMAD (one meal a day) IF (intermittent fasting) LCHF (low carbs high fat) see what interests you and see if you can stick with one for a while to see if it kick starts you to losing.

Wow, you sound like me. I'm mid 40's, married, with a 16 year old son, on this site since 2012, on blood pressure pills. I've tried a different diets throughout the years. This time when my doctor (she goes to the same one) recommend low carb my biggest hater with it finally is alright with it. My mom no longer tries to sabotage me as much. Now she doesn't do it on purpose. Good luck!!!

Its hard!! I feel ya!! Find what works for you and stick to it. I know, it sounds easier than it is, but once you see real progress, results can be addicting! Good luck!!

Lol, you sound like the majority of us! I've trying to lose the "baby" weight since I had my kids 20+ yrs ago. Tried everything out there too. Keto is my last ditch effort before I resort to surgery. I'm a super sugar fiend. So far I'm good, 2 wks into this - down 10 lbs. Don't get discouraged. Check out the website "Ruled.me" it's a great website for Keto dieters, good recipes, tips and info on making the diet easier, explains health benefits.

I agree with Klynn! This is hard but if you commit to stick with it for at least 3 weeks you will see results and won’t want to stop. Low carb/high fat (keto) has worked better for me than other diets— I’m not always hungry and have few cravings. I’m down 23lbs since January. I’ll be 42 in June and I have 5 kids ages 2-18. Good luck! You can do this if you really want to! Hope that doesn’t sound harsh but I have tried and failed so many times because I didn’t want it more than I wanted to eat bad foods and be lazy. I’m kicking myself for not doing this years ago. I’ve wasted many years feeling very insecure and unhappy because of my weight.

@Tiffany: good job going for LCHF and IF. You are not recording your exercise. Even if you don't exercise on that day, you need to visit the exercise page and click the checkbox at the bottom (at least that's how you do it in a web browser). Along with recording your food, this will give you some idea of what is happening calorically. I assume you'll be keeping your net carbs to about 20g, and you should see results. Speaking of exercise, you can obtain significant results for very little time (20 minutes/week) with the right protocol. I encourage you to adopt a weight lifting program along the lines of Body by Science (Doug McGuff, MD, http://www.drmcguff.com/). Easily found on Amazon.com. (I read it first after finding it in a local library.) Do not give up. Good luck!

Hi Tiffany! The important thing is you don't give up searching for a plan that works for you. Recording your food, understanding your macros, and exercise can be helpful. Keep trying!
