Mrs Cold's Journal, 22 November 2017

21 November, 2017 ... One week ago, Wednesday 15 November, 2017, I started a Ketogenic diet as recommended by my cardiologist and followed it to the "t". One week later I am down 10 pounds and am setting mini-goals of 10 pound increments. This is going to be an interesting journey!

Today I walked up and down a flight of stairs which I haven't been able to do in quite a few years... what a difference just 10 pounds makes. I look so forward to feeling better and being able to do so much more as this progresses. A small victory, but a very exciting one!

I am impressed that you found a doctor that understands keto! Many have little understanding of nutrition - look at the epidemic of obesity and T2D !

I feel sooo very blessed to have found this cardiologist! It took months of researching and decisions. It was only after seeing him though that I discovered that he and his colleagues run a weight loss clinic a few towns away from where I live. I'm sure it's pricey and definitely not for me living in the great north woods ... traveling in the winter is not really an option and I'm happy to do this on my own ... I got this !!

I am a doc and have been doing Keto for 6 months. Some of my colleagues will say something about “clogged arteries” when I tell them that I did LFHC diet to lose my 39-40 lbs. They do not understand that the cholesterol actually gets better. My lipid numbers have improved on my diet.

MrsCold, don't be surprised if the weight loss slows - the first 10 lbs is often at least half water weight. When starting keto / low carb, you may have headaches or feel dizzy from lack of salt. I have a cup of bouillon or other salty broth, and feel better within 1/2 hour.
