Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the POWER of God." Matthew 22:29(NKJV)
Power:in Greek--dynamis (pronounced dune-a-mis)
In scripture this word was translated as "power" 77 times and "mighty works" 11 times. It was also translated as strength, virtue and miracle(s).
"Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them POWER (dynamis) and AUTHORITY (exousia) over all demons, and to cure diseases." Luke 9:1(NKJV)
The Greek word exousia, here translated as authority, is also often translated as POWER. Exousia means power of choice, permission or endued power or strength; as in the power to use the name of Jesus; authority to use His name to produce His power to produce the same works or miracles He produced--which is doing it in His name for His glory. It is the same thing as a "power of attorney" or like the signature on a bank account; it gives us authority to use His power.
Why? For His GLORY!!
"And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My STRENGTH (dynamis) is made perfect (teleioo--made complete or fulfilled, brought to completion) in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the POWER (dynamis) of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Cor. 12:9
Here God was telling Paul that His POWER was fulfilled in him when he was made weak or infirm, so Paul said he would boast about his infirmities because that's when the POWER of Christ would "rest upon" him. He is declaring that he would be healed by Christ whenever he was made infirm through persecution, and he would "boast" about it to show it to everyone for the GLORY of Christ! To glorify Christ is to make Him manifest in an undeniable way. To make Jesus undeniable reality in this physical world to all who will see.
We need to realize our access to God's dynamis power in Christ through our exousia or authoritative powers (just like a power of attorney) to use the name of Jesus. When we're born again God's Spirit is born into us, with the same dynamis power that raised Christ from the dead. That same dynamis power works in us and through us in His name. This power is how God works through people!
Use your dynamis, your power; use the name Jesus and "call those things which are not as though they were," then watch it become reality.
