ZippyDani's Journal, 23 February 2012

Day 2 no coffee. Yesterday wasn't too bad, the jones for java hasn't gone away, but I didn't have a TERRIBLE headache, just a mild one. Once sleep came, I was good. But, I was sleepy all day! I guess that's just the bod's normal reaction-to crash. It'll be better in a day or two. Meanwhile, life goes on. People say that green tea is the best, but today it's not very helpful either.

On the upside, I came down 2 lbs since yesterday morning! :D So happy about that-I'm back down to the last low I hit. 2 more lbs and I will be at pre-Kraken-prego weight! That will be great, but it will be even GREATER to drop more. I'm really looking forward to the next 5 lbs. It seems I'm most frustrated when I'm fluctuating between tens... My last battle was going below 190 and staying there... now to get below 180. While shaving my legs this morning, I could tell they look slimmer, which makes me happy, too! Don't particularly enjoy the having to buy new clothes part, because I have to spend $$ which makes me cringe, but the reason for it is a happy one. Yes, I'm cheap. I'll admit it, it's one trait I got from my mother. Not sure if it's a good one, as it hasn't helped me keep out of debt or save for retirement, but what can you do... at least it's helping me avoid SOME things.

Today I am SUPER ready to take a nap. I was ready at 4 yesterday, I mean TRULY ready. I didn't get to nap, but I did get to chill out on the couch until the family all got home. We ate different things at different times, and went to bed at different times, but once I hit my pillow, there was little that would have stirred me. Rather, once my pillow made it over my head.

Today it's cool but not cold, windy, and sunny, a pretty day, and I'm stuck indoors listening to calls for my work. I am thinking that if there is exercise today, it will be brief, either yoga closer to bed time, or a short walk with the dogga. She loves the walks so, and when we can't go for whatever reason, she gets antsy and rambunctious. She is out in our back yard for now, happily playing with her tennis and racquet balls and whatever other toys she has out there. I swear that girl is SPOILED! More so than any of our kitties ever were. When we were moving and cleaning our room, I found a couple of milk rings-the plastic rings you take off the milk gallons-we used to give them to the cats to play with. They loved them, and it was a built in toy on a food staple. How can you not love that? It seemed that when we DID buy a toy for the cats they would ignore it. The ONLY exception was the "fising pole." This was a plexiglass stick with a long fleece strap attached to it. We would "fish for kitties" with it, wiggle the line, hold it up in front of their faces, maybe tap their heads or ears with it, and they would jump up in the air to get it, or chase it around corners. We still have it for the next gen of kitties to grace our home. I won't part with that-it was Lukey and Leia's favorite, and it was just about the best $7 ever spent on a cat item.

My RDI went over again yesterday, but I think it was in a good way, lunch was the largest meal in calories, by far, but DAMN that sandwich was good. With sis moving in, she brought some goodies from her fridge-including Grey Poupon. OMG I had forgotten!! We used to buy it here and there, then stopped with the last one, I think it was an Emeril dijon. It was not very good (sorry Emeril). Used it up cooking with it (cheap gene-can't toss unless its gone!), then didn't buy anymore. Grey Poupon really has the best out there. But it's pricey. So, when we used up what's left-which isn't much-we'll likely get another jar. SOOO good and low in cal, mustard is definitely my friend!! I've always loved it, even as a little kid. Mom would fix me a hot dog or two, no buns, with a pile of mustard to dip it in. DELISH! Then came my sister with her fried bologna.... O.M.G. YUM! Nothing but the bologna and mustard on bread.... you don't even need butter or anything to cook it in... delicious just as is... ok, I think it's obvious I'm a little hungry.... I'll stop now as I do recognize I'm rambling!!

Thankful for: (not necessarily in this order)

Busy busy! Lots of good things going on. Yippee on the drop again! Its so much fun when you can recognize the change in yourself. You'll get where you want to be if you keep doing what you're doing. Mustard used to be sooo nasty to me lol then the other morning I was starving, only had some cheese sticks, turkey slices, and no mayo. I wrapped the cheese stick with a line of mustard on a whim and mmmmmmmmm. Haven't tried anything as fancy as grey poupon but never know right? Must be my own cheap gene haha! Speaking of which, clothes $$ really needs to grow on trees. I've dropped 4 sizes and am starting on the new wardrobe too, mainly focusing on work clothes which of course are pricier. Thrift shops will be a blessing when I'm down 1 more size I hope, but for right now I'm still not getting too lucky. Guess I'll just have to wear out my own pup a bit more often eh? She's getting used to our usual 3 mile circuit so I'll have to find a longer route. Joy lol. Glad you're having such a good day!

Oh and the tea! I prefer peppermint and red raspberry. Both are great hot or iced and dont give you bad breath like coffee does :)

I'm a tea person and I like my tea black and unsweetened. I have 32-36 ounces every am. I don't care for green tea (too bitter), but I really like some of the tsanes or herbal "teas", like peppermint and raspberry too. I drink decaf after noon though (almost all herbal teas are caffiene free) or I can't sleep at night, otherwise I'd drink black tea all day! Not for the caffiene but for the flavor. I'm a cat person. I have a fishing pole type toy too which my Tom cat loves to play with. Congratulations on the continued weight loss!! Have a blessed day!

thanks to both of you!! So nice when I log on and find comments. :-) Great job Dani! You're keeping me inspired to continue... I actually HAVE some clothes from the last time I was smaller, so I'm looking forward to being able to wear them again. Sooner would be great, but I'm happy to let it progress slow and steady-as long as 'steady' remains part of it! I have a small pile started of my "fat clothes" that I have already shrunk out of. Happy and sad-I liked those pants! I have had a cup of green tea both yesterday and today. It helped warm me up, but I don't know that it helped wake me. What eventually did the trick was a smoothie with one orange, 8oz carrot juice and some ice. That perked me up nicely. DLynne... you like STOUT tea! I like my iced tea unsweetened, but prefer my herbal/hot teas with a little sweetener, usually Splenda or honey. For caloric purposes, I'm sticking to Splenda for now. And truly, the coffee was limited to one per day. Though, it was not about a warm bev, but a tasty treat for breakfast. We were drinking decaf most of the time anyway. Thanks for the happy thoughts!!

I do like my tea "stout" but by black tea I mean as opposed to Green, White or Oolong tea. Black just means the tea is fully fermented, as opposed to green which is only partially fermented or not fermented, and white which is just the tiny new leaves which are not fermented. Orange Pekoe is a type of cut of black tea, not a flavor. For what it's worth, green tea is very low in caffiene naturally so don't expect much of a pick up from it. Oolong tea is good too; it's named for where it's grown rather than so much how it's processed, I think, and it is higher in caffiene than green tea. Some sites online also claim Oolong tea inceases metabolism and helps with "fat oxidation" (if that's a good thing?) so it's used as a Dieter's tea, but it's also pretty tasty. There really are so many flavors and ways to drink tea or the herbal teas or combinations of teas and herbs, it's really hard to get tired of them. Tons of ways to serve them too and tea is a good opportunity to bring out the pretty dishes and to cut food into finger size servings. I have tea parties with my grandkids and it's a fun time to teach them table manners. Tea is just FUN! You should check out the Chai teas too (Chai is what they call Tea in India), which is black tea mixed with spices (including cinnamon, always cardamom and black pepper--so don't oversteep or the black pepper will take over) to which you add sweetner and milk, cream or half n' half. Yummy; even hubby likes that one and he's a coffee drinker.

Mmm DLynne- that's not fair! Now I'm dying for a cup of Chai. It's always been one of my favorites. ZippyDani, congrats on the drop and being able to see some of the results. :-) I'm cheap too, I shop in my storage totes of old clothes usually. Mustard is the yummiest thing isn't it? It makes so many things better!
