CollyMP's Journal, 10 May 2013

Well I stayed in my calories but pretty much ate crap today. I did, however, get my hair cut so I no longer look like a shaggy shetland pony. Progress...

Hey, what's with putting yourself down lately? Stop it! You're a beautiful woman, inside and out. I know we all get a little down on ourselves sometimes. Something new like an outfit or a hair cut usually does the trick. Did it work for you? How do you feel?

Wow - we need to go out & sport our new 'do's! Why the crap food? What's going on?

got my hair trimmed the other day, too - only had about 1/2 inch cut off, but it sure feels better!!

I don't know what's going on, I just suddenly feel all fat and frumpy again. Losing the 15 pounds and keeping it off really should feel like an accomplishment but I don't feel I look much better than I did. Tried on some shorts and capris yesterday, 2 different brands-one brand, the 12's were too big, the other, the 14's were too small; all of them, I'm still big and blobby in the middle, and the legs were still baggy on everything, as they always are. I've got so far to go yet, really I've only taken off most of the weight I gained in the last year. I'm wondering if I'm ever likely to be proportionate where I don't have to have baggy legs on all my jeans just so they fit through the waist.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that you're down. We all have our challenges. We just have to make the most of what God gave us. Accentuate the positive, your best features. I wish I lived near you. I would take you shopping. You just have to know the right clothes that work for your body. If you have big boobs, prop those babies up, and work it. I have always loved my body, but it's changed, and I have had to come to terms with those changes. I inherited my mother's big upper arms and thighs, and after I had my daughter by C-section, I all of a sudden had the little kangaroo pouch tummy. That was really hard to accept since I had always had a flat stomach before that. Not to mention, I never lost the weight after I had my daughter, 15 years ago. I was 200 pounds when I gave birth, and I was 236 last February. I know what you mean about the weight loss. I am still working on the 30 pounds I put on in the last year. I won't even feel like I'm on my way until I get down below 200, but we just can't give up. The only way to get rid of belly fat is throw cardio. How much are you getting? The size 12s were too big? What I wouldn't give to wear a size 12. I have a big butt, and as I said thighs, and hips, so I think the smallest I'll get is maybe a 9 or 10 (if I'm lucky). I just have thick, short genes, and that's just gotta be okay with me. Hang in there Colleen. You will get there.

What about stretchy pants for now until you get more weight off? I don't mean just stretch pants. I have a pair of black pants that look like regular pants. They have zippers at the ankles. I also have stretch jeans in black and blue. I was just thinking if you tried something like that, they might grip your legs and still give you room around the waste. Maybe for the summer, short leggings and blousy tops or short loose fitting dresses over them.

I just wanted to check in quick and say thanks Lisa! I'm about to go do some stuff with the hubs and I won't be on this afternoon, but that deserves a thank you! You're so nice!

You're welcome girl. Have a great day.

Try strapping the equivalent of 15lbs around your waist (3 bags of flour) or one each leg - then take them off after an hour or two. It may not be so noticeable with fashion but I am confident it will be recognizable physically. You are no doubt a much better seamstress than any of that mass produced store stuff - you can customize your clothes and no one be the wiser. You're far too unique to fit into cookie cutter crap.

Aw, you guys are so sweet! You're right Bella-I don't fit into a cookie cutter mold as it is, I shouldn't be beating myself up about it. @Lisa-you are so right, I need to accentuate the positive, and I do have them. I have nice skin, green eyes, straight teeth, 44DD's, and slender legs with no visible cellulite. What I'm getting hung up on, big time, is the vast difference between my midsection and my upper thighs, in proportion to one another. My legs look like they belong on another person...well either that or my stomach does. Or I look pregnant-that fairly describes it.

Sweetie - don't worry about if this part is in proportion to that part...I've lost almost 40lbs, and I still have a huge upper stomach - between my waist and my's like a 2nd row of boobs! I know it's gotten smaller, cause I don't have to wear a 2x shirt anymore, and I actually have a pair of size 12 jeans that I can get into - well, I can breathe when I wear them lol...There's always going to be SOMETHING that bothers you about your body, no matter what size you are or what you way - but you are ALWAYS going to be beautiful!!! Just like me, and FullaBella, and LisaPhenon...Right, ladies?? just agree with me, and no one gets

Geez - where did I go to school??? "what you WAY"????? let's try weigh...smh lol
11 May 13 by member: kmkjmomma
Lol That's funny. Grammar and spelling don't matter when you say something so nice. Yes, we are all beautiful. All we can do is take what God gave us, and make the most of it. Happy Mother's Day :)

@kmk-I hate to say it but I'm glad it isn't just me that's built that way! It is SO hard to find clothes to fit isn't it? You sound like you're built exactly like me. I'm going to pick up some white heavy denim today and make myself some shorts, capris and jeans out of it. I have a long white skirt already, and I have a bit of linen I can make a shorter white skirt out of. That'll do me for summer. @ Lisa-I believe that as well, that if you say something nice, or kind, whether it is spelled right just doesn't matter, it truly is the thought that counts, and I value those kind thoughts, I truly do. The world needs more kind people in it, and while I don't always live up to that I do so try to be a kind person. Happy Mothers Day to all of you as well!

I can sew on a button, or maybe hem a pair of jeans, but as far as making myself something to actually WEAR??? I made myself a skirt once that I really liked, but it was elastic waist, pockets and 4 seams...anything more complicated, forget it lol...

I finished a top that has needed a couple of alterations, and I made some progress on a shirt that I've had in the pipeline for weeks. I keep thinking it's going to be too warm to wear it, but honestly I think I'll get to wear it at least once or twice before the weather really changes. I'll finish it tomorrow and take pics of both and try to figure out how to post them on here!

Ask Kingkeld how to post pics. He sent me a whole tutorial, but I've never done it, so I couldn't tell you.

Theres a group on here, think it's called just pics, but that's the only place I've found where you can post pics, - wish you could just put one in your journal entries! that'd be so much easier
13 May 13 by member: kmkjmomma
Yeah, I don't know why they make it so complicated. If we can easily upload a profile pic, then why not other pics?
13 May 13 by member: LisaPhenon
I've seen lizzygracemusic post pics, I'll ask her when I get the pics out of the camera and into my computer how she does it. Thanks!
