No, you're not BAD-I have been looking at a lot of peoples weight loss charts, and I have not yet found a single one that doesn't bob up and down like a floater during fishing season. I think this is normal and "steady weight loss" is a myth.

You think thats bad? We had public servant recognition day yesterday... the managers presented us a certificate and scooped icecream of our choice into a bowl. When I declined the icecream they tried to force me to take it. I just walked away and sat back in my chair. I didnt want to make a scene, but my god!! I said no thank you, what else could I do. They all know I'm on a strict diet. I just wish everyone would stop facillitating the bad eating.

Vicki, good for you politely saying no and walking away. I'm so proud for you! I need to learn such discipline.

Definitely-Wot Missy said, good for you for refusing! It's really hard to say no sometimes!

Ok, donuts aside. Someone just offered me some Arby's fries. I turned them down. Not like they would have done much more harm but I decided that less is more right now.

1) Don't beat yourself up and 2) One donut isn't going to hurt unless one is too many and 1000 won't be enough. As for accepting food - unless they stick around and insist you consume it, what has worked best for me to not feel so cornered is to accept the food then toss it in the trash when they walk away. They win for whatever reason they insist on pushing food on the person who has announced they are trying to change their way of eating and you win by not letting them push food on you. And that concludes the unsolicted advice portion of my comments :-)

I think it's a really great idea, actually! If they ask later, you can just say you got called away from it and by the time you got back to it, it wasn't really at it's best, and you knew they'd rather you have it when it's fresh, right? With your job, it wouldn't even be a stretch to make that claim, you DO get pulled away from things unexpectedly for long periods of time.

Yep - they realize you're throwing their food away they'll stop wasting it on you....

I've not told people in the office that I'm trying to lose weight. I don't waste my time talking to people around here about such things. I do accept something things and toss them in the trash when they turn around. I do it more than I realized.

Good for you-you are a somewhat choosy eater, I do know that, so that habit is probably going to do well for you in the long run. I haven't told many people about trying to lose weight either. It isn't awfully obvious to anyone else but me yet that I HAVE lost weight, and unless and until anyone notices I'll just keep it quiet. Not sure why, but it doesn't matter why really-it's no one else's business but my own.

I would like to point out that you've lost and kept off around 8 pounds. Yes, you bounce around a bit, but I've looked around and I realized that it happens to EVERYONE. Bouncing isn't unusual, NOT bouncing is comment worthy! I never realized it before, that alone was worth the price of admission here!

I'm just a bouncy ball. I admit that it isn't anyone else's business that I might be trying to lose weight. If I do.. AWESOME, if I don't, that's ok too. I guess but I don't need people trying to 'help' me and to make comments when they see me eating something they don't think I should be eating.

ohhh and BTW.. I'm more than just a choosy eater. LOL.. I'm about as finicky as they get. I've been called a great big pain in the butt by those that have to deal with me.

That's it exactly-what other people think you should or should not be eating, especially if you've said you're trying to lose weight. They don't see when you've carefully tracked your calories all day in order to have a scoop of ice cream-they just see you eating ice cream and automatically assume that you shouldn't be. LOL-You may be a pain in the butt but I love you anyway!
