Losing weight in your late 50's is unlike losing weight In your younger years. I could easily drop 10 lbs in a week doing Atkins when i was younger. Knowing this, why didn't I persevere when I was young and try to stay on Atkins? My doctor disapproved, so that was a big factor and following her advice I just ended up unsatisfied and hungry all the time so couldn't stay on a "diet" by her standards. Low carb works for me but I'm impatient at the progress and want to be instantly thin! Although it's slow coming off recently, it is steady. I stall occasionally, but try not to get discouraged. I need a whole new wardrobe, so I know I am making progress. 49 lbs lost and 59 more to go. Seems like a huge amount to lose yet. I tweaked my Atkins diet to a very low carb higher fat diet and that has helped. I keep my protein moderate otherwise I don't lose. I never thought I would get this far, but I'm still hanging in there.

I just looked at your weight history and am so impressed with your consistency! May seem slow, but graph is heading DOWN! Hurray! Not staying on the diet will just turn that direction back to UP so keep on keepin' on!!! You are doing great!

You are only a couple of lbs from the half-way point. That is such an accomplishment in and of itself!! So many people never get that far regardless of whether they want to lose 20 lbs or 100 lbs. Congrats to you! :)

Thanks Elizabeth and Michelle! I appreciate your feedback. I was feeling a bit down that I still have so far to go and yet have worked at this so hard since mid November. But then I remind myself that if I hadn't done anything I would still have more than 100 lbs to lose and likely more if I hadn't started this. My husband has been very supportive and eats whatever I cook, so he has lost over 30 lbs. I just give him a sweet potato with what I'm eating and he does snack more. Men seem to lose easier. He is at his lowest weight in 30 years. So it's a win-win in my house.
