Oh now SERIOUSLY?! REALLY?!?! I have been a fairly good girl all week (except for that cheeseburger the other day), I have gotten more exercise this week than I have in MONTHS, I really paid attention to my caloric intake otherwise, and what happens? I have gained weight EVERY FLIPPIN DAY this week!!! ARGH! What the everlovin FLECK!

I have not eaten enough extra food to gain nearly four pounds in the last 10 days. I have not eaten even up to what I'm allowed most days. Clearly there is something going on but what it is I cannot say. I just know the harder I try, the less effect it seems to be having.

I've been gaining too but I've been a bad girl. Ummm did you ever think maybe you're gaining muscle?

I don't think that would be the case after just one week, you really have to work hard to gain muscle (just as hard as losing weight, really). It could however be muscular swelling from the exercise, I haven't been drinking the water I should be drinking so the body will be holding onto every drop that it can. Just so frustrating, ya know? Everything you read says that exercise is the magical cure and the weight will just drop off if you add exercise, and they LIED! LOL!

You have to put it all into prospective. One.. it's part muscles building, swelling and retaining water. Two.. That burger and some of the other foods are loaded in sodium and are going to make you retain water. I bet if you counted grams of sodium for a day you would be shocked. I did this once and I was convinced I was going to turn into a salt lick. And 3.. our bodies just dont make sense some of the time. BUT even if you can't see progress you're making progress! Before you know it you'll be able to bounce a quarter off something. I can do it off my elbow.. it's bony. lol

Yes they tend to do that! I hate drinking water so for me drinking it is HELL!!! We're both retaining water and it needs to find another, more willing 'host'.. lol

LOL-I love water, I just get distracted easily and forget to go GET my water. The filtered in the door water is in the kitchen, I'm in the back of the long skinny house, as far from the kitchen as it is possible to get without leaving the building. LOL @ bouncing a quarter off a bony elbow! You're right DFW, I can see some progress-all my clothes that are too loose are not getting any tighter, they're still just as baggy as they have been. And my downfall is anything salty, you have your Oreo problem, I have a "salt tooth". Sigh...I have a sneaky feeling this is also due to the stupid pill and the 13 day period (it finally ended...I think!). One day this week I'm probably going to pee all day long and this will all go away.

I'm so sorry. I've had days like this, usually because of the stupid scale. You know where I stand when it comes to that. I think you should stay away from it for a while. If you're going to cheat, I'd really stay away from the beef. It stays in your system too long. So, if you have a cheese burger expect it to reflect on the scale. Lots of fast food places are coming out with turkey burgers. (Hardees and Burger King to name a few) They're probably not the best health wise, but I'm sure it's better than a hamburger, and it might satisfy the craving. But, there are so many factors when it comes to weight lose. If you're like me, just lowering your calorie intake and working out isn't enough. I have to watch everything. I have to watch the sodium and the sugar and make sure I'm getting enough fiber and drinking enough water. It all matters. It's a pain in the butt, but we gotta do what we gotta do to get the results we want. Hang in there. Don't get down on yourself. You're probably not really doing anything wrong, but it's a process. We have to learn what works for our body. Once you figure that out, you'll be fine. Have a great day. :)

LOL-I do know where you stand, and I know that I need to give myself an earful of exactly what I've told everyone else (including you!). It's a NUMBER, it doesn't accurately reflect everything going on. Turkey burger does sound good-the hubby and I made some one time, got our own raw turkey and ground it, and they were FANTASTIC. I might have to do that again. You are likely onto something there about the beef-I hardly ever eat beef, and I hardly eat any protein at all, so it's likely that dumping that gigantic sullen chunk of protein on my poor unsuspecting digestive system has done terrible things to it. I shall drink my water, and pay better attention to my salt intake. I KNOW that is a big problem for me-2 grains of salt over what I should have and I balloon outward like a puffer fish.

and yes, it's a bit late for today-DH came home from work, not feeling well but needing to eat because he's diabetic and his blood sugar was plummeting like Wile-E-Coyote over a cliff, so I RAN to McD's and as I knew I'd be feeling all deprived if I didn't get something, I got something. I should feel guilty, I know, but....I just don't. I won't go over today, I'll drink my water, I'll eat a lot better later in the day. I just don't respond well and healthfully to sudden changes in plan.

Protein is huge. I try to get some at every meal. Lean meat on your salad is good. I use a little chicken breast or I cut up slices of lean deli meat. Turkey bacon and eggs are a favorite of mine for breakfast maybe once or twice a week with half a grapefruit. I like short cuts bc I prepare a separate meal for my kids every night. So, I get frozen grilled fish and frozen turkey burger patties. It's quicker and easier.
