I haven't been here in awhile...Mostly because I gained back some weight and wasn't really working that hard to get it off.

I joined a 3 month fitness/nutrition challenge that started on March 1. I had been toying with the idea of doing the Jamie Eason 12 week challenge, and decided that was as good a time as any to give it a try. I started eating cleaner on the 1st, and really started working hard to cut out processed foods on the 4th (when my 3 month challenge officially kicked off by choosing a food to give up for the month). Since that time I have done 3 of the 4 workouts for week 1 (a death in the family kept me from completing the 4th workout for last week-that is on the agenda for today).

When I did my official weigh in for the challenge on the 1st I was at 192. This morning I was 187.6. I have gotten down to 188 and then went right back to 190-191 several times during the last few months, but I haven't been below 188 in I don't know how long. For the first time in YEARS, I weigh less than my husband (by only a pound or two, but I'll take it!). That is an amazing feeling, and seeing a 4+ pound loss in a week has been the just the boost and motivation I need to stick with this program. It is going to progressively get much harder, but I love being able to stand in front of the mirror and flex my arms and see little baby muscles peeking out. Best feeling, ever :)


Hi, I haven't been on here since October (had some family issues November-December, then lost my motivation), but I wanted to say that I am so impressed with your hard work and weight loss! Congrats on your baby biceps! And keep up the great work!!!!

Thanks Shadowthorn! I kind of lost my will power for awhile, but it's back in abundance now! My weight hardly moved for probably 5 or 6 months, but seeing it move now is motivation enough to keep going :) I had noticed you hadn't been on-I'm glad you are back! Good luck with your journey!

And WOW I just saw your weight history for the last month. You are doing AWESOME! I am hoping to lose a total of at least 30 pounds during this 12 week challenge. I know it is possible, I am just concerned about actually losing that much since I will also be gaining muscle.

Thanks! Remember not to focus just on "weight", its not the only indication you're doing well...though it sure is nice to see the scale drop down, I totally agree =). I know I can focus too much on that sometimes. But that muscle will serve you just as well as loosing fat (and make the fat burning easier and easier). Don't forget the other benefits: clothes fitting better, more energy, better nutrition and overall health! I might actually look forward to summer clothing this year, lol!

I know, I've had to make myself stick to weekly weigh-ins, instead of watching the scale all the time. Even when the scale didn't move, I lost inches (well, except for a month or two when I was REALLY bad), but I really am ready for the scale to do some major changing. This challenge is broken into 3 phases. I'm in phase one, and it is completely based on muscle building-no cardio allowed. Phase 2 (beginning next month), adds cardio back in and focuses on losing fat and retaining the muscle gained in phase 1. One of my friends has given me a lot of her clothes that are too big for her now, so I'm set for awhile, but I am definitely ready to get to the point where I have to go buy clothes!
