I went to a class yesterday called "Core" oh my goodness was that ever a bad plan lol! To start with it's only 30minutes, and I've noticed that the "easier" the class is the longer it is, for example Yoga is 60minutes, Aquafit is 45minutes and so I should have realized just how hard it was going to be that they have only allotted 30min for this class; but I didn't.
*Disclaimer* My opinions of the class may be radically different from someone that's more physically fit than I am.
Now that that's out of the way lol, it was TERRIBLE! It was like Pilates on speed. Allot of the moves were the same as Pilates, but instead of slow and controlled movements it was "how fast can you do these" which has lead me to be very sore today. Mostly because when one tries to do things with only speed in mind, the movements are sloppy, and potentially very injurous! Even my neck hurts :-( So, I'm extremely thankful that I now have that one crossed off my 10 mandatory list for the Y's challenge, as I never plan on going back again, no matter how fit I am!
At one point the instructor tells us that she wants us to be so sore tomorrow that we can barely move so that we'll think of her cause she likes to be thought of. Now to be fair I know she was making a joke, and overall I'd say it was fairly humorous, but at the same time, a work-out is not meant to make you unable to move the next day, yes it's great to feel a burn in the muscles, but over straining them to the point of barely being able to move is just injuring yourself and that's bloody stupid to do on your quest to fitness.
Today they had the holiday schedule and my eldest son still had his 2 friends over from his sleep-over (the one came Sat. afternoon and the over came yesterday afternoon and they both went home this evening at 7:30pm)so I chose to just relax today.
Tomorrow I will be attempting a Yoga class with my eldest son at 10:30am (it will be his first Yoga class with me) so it should be interesting! :-D He finds his technique class hard because he's so tight in his hip and thigh adductors so I think starting him on Yoga classes a few times a week with me will really help him with that; and as he's in competative dance all the flexability he can gain is a good thing for him. Homeschooling him makes the 10:30am on a Tuesday Yoga class totally doable as we'll just do his bookwork after we come back tomorrow :-D Although with how excited he is about his current unit of study I won't be suprised if I get woken up super early with all the books on the kitchen table and my laptop hooked up so we can look up anything that's not in the books lol. He's decided he wants to learn about ancient Roman times, specifically Pompeii :-D But either before of after, there will be a Yoga class happening for him and I tomorrow and a Pilates class for me while he's at dance lessons tomorrow evening. I'm getting more and more excited about trying 2 classes each day now as I get more and more signatures on my sheet, as of yesterday's Core class I've gotten 17 signatures :-D
