Hi all! Went to a movie this morning with DD#2. The new James Bond, Skyfall. Highly recommended if you like action films. We had a great time. I ate breakfast before we went so was able to skip popcorn and diet soda. Didn't miss it at all. A few seats down from us there was a woman with such a large belly she could barely maneuver into the theatre seat. She brought snacks with her and basically munched through the whole film, two and a half hours. I don't sit and judge other people. Who am I to criticize anybody? But I did feel pity for her. She seemed so uncomfortable and was either unwilling or unable to do anything about it. I will probably remember her the next time I am confronted with a choice to eat something really unhealthy, not because of her size, but because perhaps if she had made some different choices along the way she wouldn't be in the place she is now. In a way every choice matters, and if you make a poor choice, you will soon have the opportunity to learn from it and make a better one. That could be the difference between a healthy person and a unhealthy one. It's never too late to improve your quality of life. Take care my Buddies.

I know exactly what you mean. I went to the Walmart and felt the same walking past some of the people in those electric chairs... another few pounds and years that would have been me. Said a quiet prayer of thanks and asked for continued strength. And in compassion said a prayer for them that they too would have their tipping point to lead them to making better food choices. I always (still) wonder if people judge me because MH requests food that isn't necessarily healthy. Hot dogs!

You know you are on the right track when you take inspiration from others but at the same time wish that they had made better choices.

It's hard not to judge. I see people all the time who are grossly overweight. I went to the supercenter today, and there you go. I just remember how it felt 50 pounds ago to be so heavy, weighed down, and in clothes that didn't fit because I was fighting going to size 18. I see so many people that I think "He or she needs to be on a PROGRAM." But I can't judge. I have been maintaining my weight loss for 3 months, but I still need to lose more. I am just a few bad food choices away from where they are, and if I made enough bad food choices, consistently, along with bad exercise choices, then I too would need an electric chair cart at the supercenter. I really believe in the food addiction model to explain obesity. I feel like I am a newly recovered addict.

I think the time I did this weight loss on my 30's I felt the same as you Dollie but after I failed and regained the weight I recognized I still had eating issues that just weren't on the 'outside' . In my 40's when I did it people would say things to me (you're amazing, share your secrets and tips). Again the weight came back so I felt like a liar or fraud. I share what's working for me NOW but always add...'I pray for continued strength, remember to be grateful, and know I have to take this one day, one bite at a time.'
