I'm going through a challenge to my willpower right now and believe it or not I threw myself under this bus! A very good friend came over last night for a visit. I don't get to see her very often so I wanted to make her a treat so I baked her favorite cake, which happened to also be MY favorite cake. To be honest, it's not so much the cake as the frosting...vanilla buttercream. I always knew I really love it but I had no idea it was the achille's heel of my diet! It took all my willpower not to lick the beaters, bowl and/or spoon. Then when it was time to serve it I allowed myself a small piece (2oz) because nothing is completely off limits here. I gobbled down that little piece of cake like I hadn't eaten for a week! Then I drank 2 cups of soy milk for protein and to fill up my stomach. I seriously wanted to stick my face in that cake like a 1 year old at her birthday party. I sent a lot of it home with my friend and have been encouraging my two teenage sons to eat some cake, not that they need that much encouragement. There is a little bit left and I've decided I'm going to have another tiny piece tonight, or maybe two. Then it will be gone, thank goodness. I have learned I am not immune to temptation when it involves what is apparently my favorite treat. I will not be whipping up buttercream frosting anytime soon. I am proud of myself that I did not completely blow up my diet. Close call that was. :)

I think it's definitely okay to give in to temptations every now and then! Especially if you've been doing a great job with staying on point with your food and exercise. Treats keeps you sane. Keeping it in moderation is the key though. Good job!

It is good to have small amounts of the foods you crave but I find it very hard to keep somethings to reasonable portions, like ice cream. I have had to ban some food entirely or they sit there and keep calling me.

Cake is my weakness and I can not just eat a slice. I can't be around it until I'm that strong, great job! When I'm weak I have to go to get my herballife strawberry cheesecake smoothie or oreo smoothie.
