ctlss's Journal, 25 July 2012

It is nearly midnight, and the temperature is still a balmy 89 degrees according to the electronic thermometer on my front porch! It is supposed to cool down some and there is a chance (about 40%) we might get some rain early tomorrow. I am praying...my poor trees are beginning to show signs of wilting and I am worried. The red sunset maples, sweet gums, and silver maples are 25 years old and losing them would be a tragedy, but losing the old oaks and black walnuts in the woods would be even worse. WE NEED RAIN desperately!

Mom has an appointment tomorrow to have YAG laser procedure done on both eyes tomorrow. We have to be at the hospital at 12, with the procedure scheduled for 1:15. This should rectify the loss of sight she has been experiencing due to the film on the replacement lenses that were implanted during her cataract surgery. Evidently it is very common, with most people needing to have this done at some point.

I did well with food today, even though we splurged and had Chinese carry out. We ordered SaCha beef, which has no breading, and only 14 grams of carbs per serving. We didn't eat the rice, although we did have 4 pieces of sushi each. We do this about once a year, and thoroughly enjoy it. The SaCha beef has beef (unbreaded and stir fried), broccoli, mushrooms, nappa cabbage, and sauce. MMMMM...good!

I also spent about 4 hours in the pool today, swimming, doing push ups, leg exercises, and of course lounging. I also worked in the garden for a bit this evening. Picked 11 cucumbers, a zucchini, a mess of green beans, and 10 banana peppers. I do love gardening!

Anyone remember this book?? I used to read it to my boys when they were small and always loved it. Perhaps I am like Grover, and someday I will be a farmer! ;) lol

Well, that's all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in your's!

Good luck to your mom today. We finally got rain the last couple of days and the grass is starting to look better. I don't remember the book but I love Grover.

I'm praying for rain for your trees Stef - I know when it didn't rain here earlier this year, it was so sad to lose plants around the garden :( My favourite character from Sesame Street was Count von Count!! Good healing vibes for your Mom's procedure :)

Stef I have to say that you sound so much better which makes me so happy. I wish you luck with your mom today and I'm glad you are getting a little relief from the weather. It is around 830 am here and 83 already. I am lucky I have this wonderful patio where I don't feel any of that. Looks like you got some exercise yesterday in that pool. Good for you. That always makes me feel better. I hope you get the rain you need there and wish I could have sent it all to you last week. lol Have a happy Thursday!!
