catinhat's Journal, 17 July 2017

My RDI is 1600/day. After spending the weekend below 1300 each day, and working both days on framing in the basement, I'm up one pound. It doesn't add up mathematically, but I did start some new medicine on Thursday, and I've felt a little off since I started it. I woke up this morning both hungry and bloated, so the gain was not a surprise. I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing, because overall, it's working, and because my test results from my doctor visit are not indicating gallbladder surgery as necessary, unless I continue to aggravate her. So...I'm playing nice, keeping fat intake low, and hopefully, I'll have a whoosh in a day or two! Soooo close to my first goal!!

That is because your body is not stupid and evolved not to let you die)))) when you eating less then your rdi in short term you will loose a little bit of weight, but by doing so you are bringing your body into stress mode. It will try to store as much as possible and you will regain what you've lost, and even more quickly. Also first thing your body will start burning is your muscles, not fat. So as soon as you'll start eating normally you'll get more fat to muscles then before. Never eat less then your rdi! Rather exercise more. This way you will not only lose weight but your body will be stronger and healthier! Good luck!

it's also possible that it's water gain as our bodies do tend to fluctuate, especially if you are woman. No worries you will continue to see results over the long term if you are able to stick to your guns! Good Luck!

Maybe try to weight in the next day? I usually weight in two following days and take the average of the two as my weight for the week. Weight fluctuate a lot depending on what you ate and how much you drank etc; sometimes it doesn't fluctuate at all, or the change is negligible. But there ARE days where the change is significant.

It's possible the medication can cause weight gain, especially depending on what medication you're on. I've been on Synthroid, several antidepressants, and birth control; all of which caused me to gain weight. Also, like getthinny said, it could possibly be water if you are weighing yourself daily. My weight goes up and down all the time, and usually in sync with my menstrual cycle. I'm trying to refrain from weighing daily because of this.

It's probably water gain. Happens to me after I do a lot of manual labor or work out a lot. :-)

Thanks, y'all...I am not in distress over it, just recording. It helps me to look back and see the fluctuations. I weigh daily, and this is just part of it. We were pretty physical all weekend (framing walls), so it might be related to that too. Having done IF and other plans with lower intakes, I don't buy the 'never eat less than your RDI' line, but I realize a lot of people do. I am not starving myself, nor am I doing anything faddish. I appreciate everyone's input!

hi I'm on a very different diet than most on here. imo and of course it's my opinion, I don't like eating the RDI. i think it's too much food. i gave up on government suggestions and decided to do what works for me.

Matter24019,, I think the suggestions are a good starting point, but it's important to listen to your body and see what works! I'm eating low fat, lots of fruits/vegetetables/fiber, and adequate protein. If you're doins something similar, I agree...not many are doing that these days!
