Hello, buddies! :)

I just have a little something to share this evening. I ran into an old friend today, and she informed me that her 6 yr old daughter is diabetic & currently taking insulin shots. You should have seen the look on her face, the tears in her eyes when I told her that it was reversible & shared Dr. Fung's knowledge (and website). It is a really good feeling to be able to help someone lose weight, but when you plant the same seed to possibly help save a child's life... now, that my friends, is an AMAZZZZING feeling! :)

Be careful because there are differences between type I and type II. Type one is a little different.

It's type 2, and I did actually tell her that the child couldn't fast, but how LCHF mimics fasting to an extent.

I also shared dietdoctor.com to explain LCHF to her.

Hearing these stories is how I keep going on from day to day.

Great! When you said 6 I immediately thought type one. That is sad, but yes reversible. What a blessing that you could be a shoulder to cry on and of inspiration.

I hope she will follow up on your tip. I tried to tell a diabetic friend about it and she was very dismissive and offended that I would meddle in her medical affairs. Ah well, perhaps I planted a seed that will germinate when the time is right for her.

Fabulous!

Thanks, guys. I'm so ecstatic right now! :) Me too, knuckles! You're right, Erika. That's all we can do. I have a little more hope in this case though, because it's her child and not her herself. I think that might actually make a big difference. :)

Oliver... Blood glucose is still kept low enough with LC (and moderate protein) that the body is allowed to burn off the stored sugars in the cells. Imagine that you have a bowl full of sugar. When you stop adding sugar to the bowl, you will eventually use it all. When you keep adding sugar, it keeps spilling over because it has no where else to go. Your body has less need to produce insulin if it has no sugar to try to push into the cells. Of course, fasting has a better effect because no insulin at all is required & the sugars in the cells are burnt up even faster because non at all are incoming. The more you lower sugar/carbs/protein (sorry to use the "p" word), the faster things clear. Lots of people on LCHF unintentionally end up fasting because they learn what real hunger is again, and avoid eating out of boredom.

When I say High Fat, what lots of people don't understand is that fat stores being burned are also calculated in the HF part when in a deficit.

Ya, Butter Bob explains that really well in his 50% Insulin video. He says high fat tricks the body onto thinking it is fasting because insulin isn't spiked, so fat stores stay open for rampage in case of calorie deficit.

Even when you are losing fat due to eating Jenny Craig, Lean Cuisine, or Weight watchers, you are STILL eating a high fat diet because you are using your OWN FAT STORES as part of that diet.

Butter Bob loves butter, lard, animal fat, NO seed oils.

Olive oil, coconut oil are good.

Oliver... refined carbs brought about insulin resistance & diabetes, but now that we are here cutting just those refined carbs simply isn't enough at this point, because all carbs cause an insulin response. It's like bumping a toe just a little. If your toe isn't broken, it doesn't hurt that bad. If it is already broken though, it's gonna hurt a lot worse. Fasting is definitely better, but not recommended for children or pregnant women. LCHF mimics fasting, but to a lesser extent. I am referring to any fat except refined and trans fats. Studies actually show saturated fats to be protective. Ancel Keys's 7 country study that led to fearing fat was a load of BS. Check it out.

C55 H104 O6 is the atomic composition of the fat molecule.

C6 H12 O6 is the atomic composition of the glucose molecule.

@ Ladyindenim pardon me, I don't know of any fatty acid that has 55 Carbons. I would stick to fatty acids with 10 carbons and below for consumption. Beef Tallow, high in stearic acid has only 18 carbons. did you mean somehting else?

I agree fat molecules are changed, but when all of the body fat is gone we HAVE to eat something (and many of us WANT to eat something in the meantime). So for us insulin resistant people. Carbs are off the table & lean meat is limited. So, again, what REASONABLE "diet" do we follow? Again...I'm not walking up to a pig and taking a bite & no insects for me please...lol. We are not talking weigh loss in this post, we are talking reversing type 2 diabetes. Respectfully, and you know I love you Oliver! Remember what I told you Daddy said, "You will never learn anything with a closed mind & an open mouth."
