Well, a new 25+ year low. :)
I didn't measure before I started this WOE, but did after the first month.
Bust: down 2.5"
Waist: down 4"
Hips: down 3.5"
In 90 days. Happy dancing!
My only concern, ironically, is getting enough calories/protein to avoid slowing my metabolic rate. I'm thinking I need to add a protein shake or two during my eating window.

Actually most of what we eat is because it's what we are told to do. There's a question to if we even need all of the recommended vitamins and minerals, other than salt & vitamin D (preferably from the sun) when we are on a paleo ketogenic diet, esp if we eat from head to tail when we do eat. http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/all-meat-diets/ It's kinda like the antidote for poison that Dr. Fung talks about with fiber for carbs. I personally don't think we do. Again, that is my opinion based on expert opinion. I will PM you the links.

I told my dad that if wanted to get his diabetes under control that he had to stop overeating and get over eating. Metabolism isn't going to slow down enough to matter if you're eating the right foods.

Great job!

Exactly, phil. If we consider this a WOE for life, who cares if the metabolism does slow down a bit? When/if it does slow down, it only slows down enough to match/maintain weight from what we are consuming on a regular basis. Nothing more. I say if you still fear it being slowed down, eat more fat.

Nice work! Let's go! #grindtime

While related, the slowing down of metabolism & starvation mode are two different things. Starvation mode is the burning of muscle/organ tissue. Slowing metabolism is the slowing of the rate at which you burn calories due to lack of nourishment to protect the body from starvation in mode.

Metabolic rate isn't static. I think probably I don't need to even concern myself with it until I want to start maintaining.

Fantastic, I can just imagine how happy you must be - I know I would be

Interesting discussion on protein. I've only been doing intermittent fasting for 5 days, but I did have an experience today of more hunger after a higher protein meal last night. I ate more meat and less fat and skewed the proportions. I think I must have triggered some gluco-genesis, because my body reacted like I had eaten carbs though I hadn't. Protein can knock you out of ketosis.

@Lady, I'm coming to the conclusion that in-ketosis calorie restriction is VERY different from glucose-burning restriction. Thanks to C2B's excellent research, I'm no longer worried. For the past 30 years, I've been listening to my body (most of the time) and only eating when hungry. There's no reason to stop that now. Although it does raise some questions about IF. My normal eating pattern turns out to always have been IF! Never ate breakfast, hearty lunch, light supper, rare snacks. Not big on sweets, sugar restricted for the last 30 years. Rarely ate later than 3 hours before bed. So if IF alone should lead to weight loss....well, it didn't. It took severely restricting carbs to start the train rolling. I know for a fact, though, that the weight gain over the Xmas holidays can be directly attributed to the tons of sweet goodies that my clients brought me. Sugar...ugh.

Thank you Phil, Bd, and Jim. It feels pretty darned good!

@Erika, yes...excess protein will be converted to glucose. The key is finding the amount of protein that takes care of your body's immediate needs, and eat no more than that.

@mskestrela... what about bread/flour/grains, potatoes, sweet drinks, excess fruit, etc (things with way more cabs than fiber) in the past? I've read more than once that 2 pcs of bread (even whole wheat/grain) raises blood glucose more than a snickers. Dr. Fung makes a comment in the video I shared today that "IF PREVENTS insulin resistance." I think that if you already have IR, LC is also the best to be included.

@C2B, yep, I was a wheat-a-holic! Spuds, too. Not so much on the fruit, and no sugary drinks, very rare juices (except V-8). But the question I have is if my normal, lifelong eating pattern has basically been somewhere between IF 16:8 and 20:4, how did I develop IR? There is no doubt in my mind that LCHF is doing wonders for me, health-wise as well as weight-wise. So that's pretty much a no brainer. LOL

This is soooo wonderful. I can feel your excitement!!!! Congratulations!! Can you tell me what IF stands for. I'm thinking it has something to do with fasting.
03 Jul 16 by member: IamLinny
Intermittent Fasting. 16:8 refers to a pattern of fasting 16 hours, eating within the remaining 8 hour window.

Me again....Intermittent Fasting....got it! I'm learning!
