Dr. Yoni Freedhoff interviews Dr. Kevin Hall at #ICO2016 in Vancouver, 1 May 2016. First presentation of "definitive" NuSI metabolic ward study. Conclusion: no metabolic advantage to ketogenic diet

No advantage to avoiding a large amount of food options. If anything, it's a disadvantage since maybe you can lead a more normal social life/diet by dropping it.

Also, I fail to see where I'm being a dick, especially compared to you. You threatened me with physical violence, cursed and even called me a retard, which was in really bad taste. But whatever, as long as you're an anti-carb crusader, you get no flack from other members. Oh, well.

FivetwoCowboy, do you think I am some special breed because I lift things and put them down? What if instead of the gym, I worked on the railroad, would I still be special? Does lifting make me able to eat what I want and not gain fat? Nope, we process food the same way, you and I.

Ok, Well I apologize publicly for using foul language at you. But in my own defense, I didn't get angry until you tried to imply that you know more about losing weight because you weigh 180 pounds and I weigh 353 pounds. do you have any idea how hurtful that was? Do you know the amount of pride a mane like myself carries around? And to be called fat AND stupid in the same sentence and NOT have any way to VENT or vindicate myself? I was FURIOUS and had no way of letting it out. You REALLY WERE lucky we were not in the same room at that moment. Man, you need to remember, I may be fat, but I would have to lose 45 pounds of muscle to be as SMALL as you muscularly. I leg press over 12 pounds and rip phone books in half. Do you see why I was insulted? And NOT ONCE have you apologized to myself OR Phil for slighting us. You even made it sound like Phil's accomplishment of losing over 200 POUNDS was NOTHING. and I wasn't not making FUN of you when I mentioned English not being your first language. I mention it because I feel you are NOT understanding the depth of importance to the words you speak when you speak them. THAT is what makes you a DICK. The fact that you seem to care MORE about getting your point across than what people here FEEL.

1200 pound leg press. Not 12 pounds

Hmmm, I give much more credit to someone who has gotten in shape and maintained it for 15 years than someone who lost 200 lbs in 10 months by crash dieting. Sue me. I can bench press more than your body weight at 180 lbs and have lost strength in squats since my slipped discs but was able to squat 550+ and leg press over 1300 lbs. Not sure why any of that matters since we are talking about diets, but whatever.

Congrats to you for beginning to lose fat and for Phil for losing a ton of weight.

And again, you call me names. LOL, I am done with you, man. Stay on your boring, disgusting diet. I will continue to eat what I want while getting leaner and leaner. Agree to disagree. Peace.

I've seen you mention that things shouldn't be sugar-coated. Well, sorry for not understanding how mentally unstable you are. I will try to stop from hurting your feelings in the future.

Sorry Diablo I hadn't seen Friday since 1996 or was it 98? I just thought Phil and Felicia.. Hahaha!! To each their own way is best, but Diablo you never been fat so you don't understand the mindset of fat people and the daily struggle, the daily urges to say screw this diet, I'll go eat what I want... The thing is, once the fork, or fingers, or chopsticks start picking at food, a small sensible portion doesn't work. I can out eat any of my friends/ family and still not be full. It's like the signal from the brain that tells your stomach it's full does not work! That's what got me and many of us here in the first place. Small and sensible just doesn't work right now. Maybe 5 years from now if I can continue the weight loss, the signals will work again. Maybe my stomach will shrink and I can eat small and sensible... But not now, no way! Someday I strive to be fit, able to Cico like you, just be a normal non fat person. Now, even if I'm having a conversation with a friend, I'm secretly thinking about food. LCHF has stopped that, I feel like a normal person nowadays, but if I introduced carbs and sugar into my diet, it starts that nasty cycle of food addiction again. I am an addict- food, drugs, I can't get enough. I'm never satisfied, I always want more. Luckily I quit hard drugs 11 years ago and never looked back. But I hit rock bottom first. Nowadays my drug of choice is food. It's legal, get it anywhere, it's socially acceptable. But it's the same gnawing achy feeling of always wanting more food. LCHF is like my narcotics anonymous, actually FS is my narcotics annonymous. You have to understand it's different and so difficult when you're fat and always crave more.

That's awesome smarty, keep it up. I do know that it can be difficult to stop eating certain foods, and the urge is stronger with some people. LCHF is great if that is what you need to maintain a deficit. I have been obese in the past. Hell, I was technically obese in January. 40 lbs over weight is considered obese. I went from 212 to my current 182 in 2.5 months. Keep it up.

My highest weight was 222 when I first got started. I could easily see me as being 250 plus given my appetite if I didn't begin keeping myself in check since 2000.

Also, to repeat once again, I think people should stick to what works for them,I am not trying to get people off of certain diets....

It is my personal opinion that if people could practice moderation of foods they love, they would be happier, but no one needs to take my advice. Do what you want.

Knuckles, I've been lifting for 15 years, don't be sad that I put you to shame in pound for pound strength, my friend. It will be ok.

Thank you Diablo for your support, I guess since you've been obese before you know about diet heartache. Hope you have yourself a good night out there. To each person their own path, there is no right or wrong... It all comes down to dedication.

Almost every year I go back into the obese range during the cold months. I know the struggle. :)

Then you belong here on FS, this site very much helps you when you need it. It's your FS family too. It doesn't matter what food lifestyle you choose, as long as you can get AND maintain your results. It's the hardest to maintain the new healthy weight...I guess why so many of us Yo-Yo after losing Weight. After the quest is done, we all go on extended vacation and before you know it, we are back at the starting weight plus 20 pounds. It's not easy to lose weight, but it's even harder to stay that weight!
