Well, I know I have been a stranger lately, and I don't know exactly what my weight is today but I thought I post a quick note so my FS buddies would know what black hole swallowed me up. The day after I saw my doctor about the diabetic neuropathy I began having TIA's, or what they call "mini strokes". My brain is not getting enough blood flow causing my whole right side (face, arm, leg, foot) to go completely numb for 1-2 hours each day. One morning getting out of the shower my right side went numb and I fell, only I could not feel myself falling or hitting the floor. anyway I ended up breaking 1-2 bones in my foot. In the past week I have been to the ER, a neurologist, an orthopetic specialist, had 2 CAT scans (one for my head, one for my foot), an EEG, a MRI, and a MRA and a heavy plaster splint on my right leg. lots of hurry up and wait and no one telling me what the next step is or what happens next, just schedule a revisit. I do know the neurologist is looking to see if I need surgery on my carotid arteries. The orthopetic guy says no weight on the right foot for 6 weeks and that I need a knee walker or 'roll-a-bout' that start at about $450 and go up. Not sure if I will be able to drive yet or when I can tell work when I will be back.
My dear husband has taken the whole week off: to get me to the next doctor or test, pushing me in a wheel chair, rearranging the furniture in the house, helping me take a bath, bringing me meals in bed, etc. He hasn't even complain or rolled his eyes (much) He thinks the shower chair is in there just for him. oh well if it makes him happy :)
Soooo guys, I will check in periodically. Right now I have alot of challenges to solve at home. Besides with this splint/cast on, and it is
heavy
, I have no idea what I weigh. I get to eat what ever hubby decides to fix and when he wants to fix it. Yesterday I had talk him out of hamburgers & fries and then out of ordering pizza and wings. I don't think I'll gain everything back but who knows if I will lose any.
your friend, Debbie (dwhummers)
One bit of good news, staying on Atkins since Jan has lowered my Hemaglobin A1C to 5.2%!!! my average blood sugar is about 82!! :)

steady weight
20 October 2008
Well not feeling well has worked on my weight loss goal, minus another 3 lbs. Most food still doesn't taste good, stomach virus sure has messed by the taste buds. I will be glad when Oct is over, I hope anyway. Health issues seem to be dominating everyday. Diabetic neutropathy has come back and for me that is constant pain in my back. I can't lie down, sit, stand or walk without pain in my back. The last espisode was in Jan/Feb so it reoccurring is a disappointment. I am still hoping to find the time to catch up with everyone at FS but until then I hope all of you are meeting all your goals and life is good! ~Debra

losing 3.0 lb a week
13 October 2008
This month sure is the pits for me: the first week-migraines, the second week I got a violent stomach virus for 48 hrs. Couldn't eat for 2 days and didn't get to participate in the Arts & Craft Show Saturday! I am feeling better today, will go to work but everytime I try to breath deep all my chest muscles hurt from all @#*^ing up this weekend. I did loss 3 lbs and I did get back to the pool for water aerobics before I got that virus.
Hopefully THIS WEEK I can get back on track and refocus on my goals and FS buddies.

losing 2.6 lb a week
05 October 2008
Okay, I took break from FS and from anything on the internet. I had ongoing migraines for 5-6 days and just didn't feel like looking at the monitor. I basically didn't feel like doing anything but I had to go to work.....TOM & cramps was here all week, not sure they was the reason for the headaches but Were another reason for being miserable. Stayed under 20 carbs per day except Friday when we went to the State Fair. I indulged in one biscuit & sausage, french fries(half of the serving), 1/2 a corny dog, 2 chicken tenders. so I guess I was only half "bad". the scales show a 2 lb gain but with my ankles still swollen I thinking most of the gain is water. I have been getting ready for an OktoberFest Arts & Craft Show Oct 11th and also getting ready for a road trip for work about 200 miles one way but only for 3 days.
okay, my favorite chicken recipe I found here at FS. The recipe was written as PECAN CRUSTED PORK CHOPS but I used chicken breasts instead. Mixed chopped pecans with grated parmesan cheese. Dip chicken pieces in eggbeaters then in the pecans & cheese. Place in baking dish, cover with foil, bake in 375 oven 45-60 min till chicken is done. We fix extra and its good cold with a crisp salad.
I hope to be a better team player this week. I have a busy week coming up but I hope to get everything done just the same

gaining 2.3 lb a week
29 September 2008
Have had a rotten weekend, seems I am back to having migraine more often. AND, I gain 2 lbs this week, not sure how, I bet TOM is on his way. Most of the time my head hurts so much I don't even want to think of food.
Challenge wise, I stuck to less than 20 carbs per day, had salad every evening with dinner even when I didn't want to eat. I just don't feel like writing down all the daily numbers. sorry
Hope it better for you guys~
