I didn't behave as well as I should've last night, but it wasn't disastrous. Mr Coco and I have been watching an episode of The Sopranos each night (got the box set for Christmas), and we split a microwave popcorn bag (no butter). Tonight, I'll chop up some celery sticks instead with some lo-cal dip.
I've been reading Moonwalking with Einstein on and off over the last few months. The section last night was about how the author hit a plateau in his ability to memorize a deck of cards. The block was due to one's tendency to automate tasks. You hit a certain level of efficiency/proficiency in a skill -- like typing or playing a musical instrument -- and then you tend to coast along mindlessly without improvement. To keep improving, you have to raise the bar. I think he said an amateur plays, but a professional practices. It's hard to move out of one's comfort zone, but I feel like I need to do that in a lot of ways in my life, not just with dieting. In my career especially.
