I almost died today. Trying my hardest to rest after Saturdays cheat (I had booze not food cheats) and I walk into the kitchen and there is cake. SO I leave and go back to work and then later I head back into the kitchen and there is another darn cake. I literally sat there and sniffed in all the good yummy sugar smell in the air.. oh it was so hard to resist. But I made myself a cup of coffee and walked away like the rock star that I am. Glad that's over. Came home and ate my leftover low carb meatloaf. As a reward Im having some lox with cream cheese and instead of bagels? Im using a cucumber "round" and garnishing with green onion tops and capers. One of my favorite meals. DH got called into work at his 2nd job so if I feel good after work I may go for a 2nd round of treadmill today since he isnt home tonight, you know to make the most of my day. I hope every one has a super rest of the day and week!

I love your food creativity. Where did you find the ideas for the substitutions.

Phil. I almost died bc the cake was sooo good looking and the air was full of the smell of the sugary frosting.... I almost died of sugar fumes inhalation.. bwahahaha..

lane62, my husband is a chef and one day he brought home some crostini with the lox and cream cheese garnished with capers and red onions, and they were so round and cute and almost looked like a cucumber so I thought what the heck.I use the English hot house cucumber.. tastes really good .. not like a crostini but a pretty decent substitution. I prefer the green onion bc its not so pungent.

Do you know that pecan pie has 800 calories a slice? Why not have it a la mode?

I had to laugh (to keep from crying) about sniffing the goodness. Sometimes I do that. I just LOOK at it. Sometimes my finger goes out just to get a teeny tiny bit of frosting then I pull it back. Sometimes I even say a "bad" word. Yay for you for resisting! AND I am going to try your cucumber rounds/cream cheese treats. Thank you for the idea!

That was too funny. Cakes magically appearing, at least you didn't make them disappear.

DH snuck a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup into the house I smelled it from two rooms away. When you go without sugar for a long time you can smell it!

My boss is a baker and every year she brings a basket of delicious goodies. Unlike you, i had 2 cookies, 2 small baby chocolate dipped pretzels and 3 YUM blondies. My god.... yet I still lose weight LOL but i am staying away from that basket. I wish I had the willpower to have not had any at all like you. YOU DID GREAT!!!!! I find if I enjoy one treat it turns into 5!!!!! Plus I also find coffee to be a great appetite suppressant.
