Jamaica was amazing and refreshing, to say the least! I enjoyed every second of our vacation. We went kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, spelunking, and swimming. We decided to walk instead of taking a cab every time we went to town, so we stayed pretty active. Despite it being a vacation, we didn't really have much down time. We stayed up super late each night, but we still got up by 5am each morning. We actually ended up getting far less sleep while on this trip than what is normal for us.
The food options were endless...but I stayed strong in the face of all of those carb-filled opportunities. I decided that I was going to stick to my way of eating no matter what. I didn't log my food choices, but I did stay with what I knew. I wasn't pressed about staying within a particular calorie range, but I was pressed about maintaining my carb levels. I even taught some of the locals how to make a bulletproof coffee. I was actually quite proud of my choices and my restraint. It tells me that I have the ability to maintain this lifestyle for life!
The highlight of my trip was simply my time with my husband. That was, by far, my favorite part. We have never had adult time within our marriage (not even a honeymoon), and we never realized how important it was until we actually got it. I suggest that all couples take time for each other, despite the craziness of life. Even if you can't fit in a big trip (which we were only able to because my husband's company paid for the majority of it), just take the weekend and make it count. Leave the kids with family, sleep in a bed that is not yours, and take the time to appreciate each other. I may not get another vacation like this for a long time (or if ever), but I will make it a point to spoil us with a weekend getaway every once in a blue moon.
I may not have lost weight this week, but I also didn't gain any either. Instead, I experienced life to the fullest without throwing my WOE in the trash. Not only am I feeling high on life right now, but I am also extremely proud of myself and my ability to make healthy choices. Other than that, I am just appreciative. I'm appreciative of God, of my husband, of all of my family that stood up so that I could go, and of all of those that are supporting me along this journey (that means you guys)! I am loved and I am blessed. Everything else is just icing on the cake!
