Hi Liv! I haven't seen you for awhile. But the way my notifications work, I miss lots of journal postings. Glad you got back before the thunder storm! I love the wild turkeys around my house just saw about 6 toms sleeping under the trees in my front yard. They are always looking for shade!

lol! That turkey looks so skinny comparing to the turkeys in the grocery store. And the muffins sound amazing.

I also had a turkey sighting today… in my front yard! He was grazing as the electrician pulled up to install some new lights in my basement. The turkey high tailed it when he saw the electrician’s dog in the front seat of his van. 😂

I was touring around Michigan for 10 days and saw dozens of wild turkeys and deer just wandering everywhere including the forested housing track where a friend lives. His home is almost all windows so I got up early and watched the sunrise and the animals wake up and move around. It was so peaceful.

Since this is an online recipe from ketoconnect. I will list the ingredients just in case the recipe gets removed or changed...I cup flax, I cup oats, 4 tbs sweetener, 4 tbs butter, 4 eggs, 8 tbs cream, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, little bit of salt, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. I add rhubarb... because why not. Combine wet and add dry. 350 for 15 minutes.

The oat is oat fibre not really oats. Wish I could find a cheap source for that product. I use it a lot

Hi Liv- my daughter moved to Michigan 3 years ago. She would love to have me. Move there. Although it is not really in my plan (I never say never) I can’t see it happening. I’m a California girl— beach and mountains. It is beautiful in Muskegon and she and hubs are very happy with thier decision, but for now I will just go in spring and fall and skip winter.

Since we are semi-rural, a flock of turkeys that lives in the woods near our home, comes to our yard & treed area a couple of times a week. There must be at least 10 - 12 of them. Beautiful birds. Just wish the redtail hawks would come back. There was a pair of them that lived in one of our trees for 2 - 3 years.

In my friend’s area where there are so many wild turkeys they can hunt them, with bow and arrow only and with a permit. He hunts them periodically. Wild turkeys are almost all dark meat and tough, but great for soups and stews. Hunting them for food is encouraged because they have no natural predators there, same for the deer, and their numbers cannot be allowed to increase to an amount that they can’t find sufficient food. Otherwise, the forest service has to come in and do it and then there is wasted food and the life of an animal.
