I've been quiet for a while on here, mainly because I wasn't really going anywhere. I was stuck in limbo. Big thanks to LoadGod for inviting me to the lose 10 lbs in 30 days challenge. It's what I needed. Today I finally feel like I'm back on track...now to stay there and get the rest of my weight off. I'm excited that my wife is doing this challenge with me. This afternoon we figured out her estimated daily calorie burn and an RDI for her to follow. It's a good thing for us to as a team, get closer to each other and also do something healthy together.
On the "food" side of things, Aldi has fresh blackberries on sale for about $2.60 a pound. That's an unbelievably good price and they're pretty good berries too. So...I bought 20 pounds. I'm getting my wine making stuff out right now and will get a 5 gallon batch of blackberry wine started. I'm thinking of using part of it for a sweet blackberry dessert wine and the rest to mix with merlot...60% Merlot and 40% blackberry. Last year I made a blackberry merlot in those proportions and I think it's the best wine I ever made. A friend of my mom's is a wine snob and she raved about it so I'll take that as a big compliment. It won't be ready for a year so it's nothing that'll be a temptation in the short term.

Glen I don't know how adoption would work but we sure could be "hang out" buddies. :) 2 legs of my wife's stockings are loaded up with 10 lbs of berries each, got all of the other ingredients in except yeast, once I add that the fun begins. Wine's a good thing. In moderation it can be enjoyed and still allow weight loss.

You're wasting blackberries on wine? So sad. Lol. I like mine fresh with vanilla greek yogurt. I got the 6 oz packs for $1 each so bought 10. May have to freeze some but for now I'm in berry heaven. Blueberries used to be my favorite, but blackberries have taken over. Got some strawberries at a good price too.
