BekkaL85's Journal, 30 March 2011

If you are male or are very sensitive to certain "female problems" I suggest that you do not read this entry. It will geek you out.

I am having some lady trouble. My cycle has been going for about ten days now, and while it doesn't affect my day to day life.....it's very annoying and inconvientant. I read a bunch of sites that say if you lose alot of weight over a short period of time, then you can expect this to happen until your estrogen gets back under control. But does that mean it won't stop until I stop dieting? Or just that I can expect to be stuck with this for awhile. Or are the web sites wrong? I hate going to the lady docotor with a burning fiery passion...so that will be the absolute last resort. Any ideas? I understand if this is to icky for you guys.

When you start to lose body fat, the body doesn't quite know what to do so it freaks out for a bit. Body fat is one of the measures your body uses to provide your cycle. It should balance out when you are done losing weight and maintain the same weight for a while. It will eventually stop..but expect abnormality.

I would give it a few more days, especially if you are not in any pain. But longer than two weeks I'd probably go get seen. Most people I hear of that have similar situations have to establish a pattern of it with their GYN, before anything is done. Don't know why. But, that's just me. I never have regular periods. They are never long, just really far apart. I hate that for you! Hope it straigtens out.

I don't have any clue... I'm on birth control pills, so my body does what the pills tell it to do.

Becca my dear, I have exact opposite, no period since switched to new BC. I wouldn't let it go to long if it is continuing past 12 days. That is not normal and maybe even just a call to your doctor is in order. Out body gets out of wack sometimes, but you have been losing at a healthy rate and I would think your body should be adjusting. If you were losing 5 or more lbs a week that is unhealthy. We don't need to be internet docs. What concerns me is you have you and hubby are trying to have a baby. If you are not using any protection you could have a hormonal imbalance, ectopic, or other issue that is opened up that the dr needs to address. You also have been on meds for your back and there could be side affects. Only a doctor can address what is normal and not normal. Your health is the primary concern be safe and I don't want to go to the doc isn't a good thing. I'd rather hear I am doing ok than, oh you should have come in sooner now it will take longer to treat. Let us know how you are. Melissa
