OMG, that machine and cabinet are the same as the one I learned to sew. Wonderful memories with my mom and the seam ripper. Needless to say, I did not inherit her talent. ❤️

Bella, after my life I have had to figure out how to like myself and feel good about me to be successful on this journey. It has taken years and mostly I'm good now but every now and then a reminder helps my days. That machine today was a reminder.

I'm trying to remember to do something that I simply enjoy doing each day instead of just doing things I feel I have to do. Getting this set up and useable will make me feel good. It's pouring down rain again this Sunday am so will spend some time cleaning and then seeing how this baby sews. The cabinet needs some work, will probably not get into that today will just clean it up as it has been sitting closed for a couple of years. I have a list of parts for a couple of my machines (I have 12 at the moment) that I worked on yesterday to see if my parts source has them or if I need start a hunt online for them.

I have a 1934 portable that looks very much like this, best machine I have ever had.

They are heavy solid metal workhorses unlike the newer plastic ones, it may be a 201 like mine or a 66 or 15 if it's a singer they all look similar. I've started rather collecting and fixing up vintage machines. Pick them up super cheap at estate sales and thrift shops. This one was a freebie (I have 2 of those that people were tossing). I quilt so do not need all kinds of fancy stitches etc. I'll post some studio photos when I get it organized again--it has become a catch-all with my youngest moving in and out: so slowly working on it to make it useable again.

Stewart. k but will probably be using it. Paula, I couldn't believe I had just ignored it for a couple years. My kids think I'm crazy. My middle DD a couple weeks ago when I told her about a new vintage one says "Mom, you do not need anymore sewing machines!! What are you going to do with it?" MMMM use it after I restore it. It's pretty and pink.. not this one another one from the 50's.

Antiques? 😜 I weigh myself on a 100 year old platform scale that sat unused in my Grandfathers garage. Hope you can learn to enjoy shedding pounds like you enjoy bringing these beauties back to life.

I have almost an identical machine just like this that was built in 1941.
It still runs beautifully and so is like a dream definitely refurbish it and have it adjusted and you’ll have a sewing machine the rest of your life. The gears on these machines are all machined and metal no plastic they will last a lifetime❤️

60pack I bet it is a cool scale. I have actually lost quite a bit and been essentially on maint for the past 3+ years. Gained a bit back with 3 blown discs in my neck and other health issues that curtailed my normal activity. Part of my theory after this life long journey is that to lose and maintain you have to feel good about yourself in your life. So part of feeling good is spending some time doing things you like to do. It has been a long journey for me to feel good about myself and it has been a huge part of my weight loss journey.

Mikeridethebike, I love technology that works and lasts with amazing craftsmanship.
It will take a bit as I will probably have to learn to time it, I think the timing is messed up. So something new to learn. I know how to time my big longarm quilting machine so shouldn't be a huge issue.

Well--update!! This one is now running beautifully!!! It purrs. The cabinet needs some work so will take it out of the cabinet tomorrow and work on the cabinet. I think I will love this machine.
