Four years ago I had two bad accidents within six months -- I herniated two disks in my back, and thanks to the nerve damage in my leg from this injury, I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my right (dominant) arm in 20 places. I was in bed for almost a year, and in the time since then, I put on more weight than I have ever carried. I've never been thin, but I was never obese before, and it's not how I want my life to be. I've been to the doctor and I'm now on thyroid medication, my back is better, and I'm ready to get started. I expect it will take two years to lose this weight, and I have to make this a lifestyle change if I want to keep it off. I really think I'm ready to make this commitment.
