You know when the knee sleeves and the 5lb ankle weights come out - a girl's gettin' serious! LOL. Naw, but really I got my brand new knee sleeves today and they fit perfect! Size medium, BTW. I had to measure my knee cap around the patella in order to determine what size to order.
I've been doing basic squats with light resistance bands for 2 years as they were recommended to me by the physical therapist at the hospital back in 2017 when I was receiving treatment for an MS flare up. I never even knew these compression knee sleeves were a thing. So, needless to say working up to 60 squats while pulling against heavy weight resistance bands were a painful thing until my quads, hams, and glutes adjusted.
I've since upped my game with squats and am now holding on to a 17 lb kettle bell when I start the reps. I'm only up to 15 squats on that exercise and my knees and abductors were killing me. I started noticing when I watched my favorite cross fit videos and DLB's workouts that they all wore knee sleeves when they did their squats, ESPECIALLY if they included weight.
DLB (Dana Lyn Bailey) chuckled during one of her workout blogs and said, "whatever you do, get yourself a good pair of compression knee sleeves when you do your squats - they make the BIGGEST DIFFERENCE!" Apparently she went for years without using any and can't believe she waited so long.
I decided to get me a pair as I'm just starting with squats using weights. And, I can say right off the bat the first 5 are UBER excruciating, before all the muscles kick in. I used the knee sleeves today for the first time on my mild squat set and I have to agree - I will never ever do squats again without compression knee sleeves. The pain was very minimal and I felt like I was hoppin' off a spring board. It was wonderful!
My legs were all nice and warm afterward. I LOVE THEM!
