"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on so long in the first place."

Reasons for reaching my goal:

1. I will be healthier. Obesity makes me at risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, stroke, liver and gallbladder disease, and much more.

2. My mother recently had 3 heart attacks and she's only in her 40's. If I don't get healthy now, I could have a heart attack at a very young age and die. I can already feel that being obese puts a lot of strain on my heart.

3. Working out just 5 minutes makes me feel like I ran a mile. I will have more energy to get out and do things and just live my life to the fullest.

4. I will be able to wear all of the pretty clothes I have always wanted to, but could never fit in. I can show more skin without feeling ashamed, and I will just look and feel better. I will have so much more confidence. I'm tired of people giving me dirty looks, pointing, and laughing at me every time I go into public.

5. I want to look good for my boyfriend. I want to be able to fit into a dress on our wedding day and I want to be a good example for our future children. Many children mimic their parents eating behavior and end up obese once they are in adulthood.

6. I will be happier.

TEA! <3
There is tea without caffeine in it. Just look for ones that say decaffeinated or caffeine free.

Whats the Best thing you have given up (or cut waaaay back on?)
Cheetos, chocolate milk, and ice cream. Soda and fast food have never been a problem for me like they are for so many people. I guess I'm lucky in that aspect. I sure do miss my Cheetos tho.

recording water in food diary
If you want to, but I don't see the point. I don't unless its flavored or vitamin water. Regular water doesn't really have anything so it wouldn't make a difference on your RDI. As long as you know you are drinking enough water it should be fine.

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
Well, if breaking 3 chairs isn't a good enough reason, then I don't know what is lol. That and I want to wear cuter clothes! It's hard to find cute clothes when you're a big girl and usually when I do they don't look good on me.

Nutrisystem did me BAD, now what do i do?
Johanne wrote:
Kate, my very first day on here, I read a journal that said how hungry, sick and weak the person felt and how she just wanted something . . . anything. I read her food diary for the day and instantly posted that she really MUST eat. She wasn't getting enough this and that and the other, etc. OMG! I didn't know my way around yet and I had accidentally posted on an Atkins thread. I was called "stupid", "ignorant" and every other name in the book. People are very protective of their "diets". I personally couldn't even think of Nutrisystem, because I couldn't possibly afford it (or Lean Cuisine or Kashi, etc.) Like you, I went the route of figuring out how I could eat a balanced diet (in my case a cheap diet) and restrict calories, healthfully, on my own. When I finish losing, like you, I will figure out, slowly, how much I can add back in.

@kklessig, as Sherilyn said, figure out what the nutrisystem meals are comprised of, and try to duplicate the kinds of foods and amounts with whole foods, without salt and additives, without soy if it turns out you are sensitive to it. It really isn't hard. Check out any of the food diaries of any of the successful losers on here and pick one that sounds good to you. Kate's diary is a good place to start.
It's funny that you say that, because I noticed a lot of people treat their "diet" as if it were a religion of some sort. Especially people on the Atkins diet.
