06 September 2016
Still have a ways to go, but I'm taking the slow and steady route.
I've started:
Eating more fresh veggies and fruit
Drinking more
water
Upping my normal 30 minute lunch walk to include a 30 minute evening walk
Buying less processed foods and more raw foods
Practicing mindful eating - Do I REALLY need this food or am I bored/frustrated/excited?
I'm in this for the long haul and not a quick fix. I can't wait to reach my new milestone of 195 pounds, which is less than 3.2 pounds away!At that point, I will be in the upper end of the "Overweight" category instead of "Obese Class I". Considering I started at "Obese Class III", I'm pretty proud of myself.
What's your September goal?

I gained a few pounds during my stay in Seattle for my dissertation residency, but I know it'll come off in a couple of weeks. I'm not worried. In fact, I'm quite proud of myself for not going overly crazy (food-wise, I didn't say anything about mental-wise *wink* Lol) because trust me, I had plenty of opportunities to. On the plus side, I am certain most of this is water weight anyways.
Isn't it interesting how perspective can change everything? Recently, I was part of a Resiliency Training program sponsored by the University of Penn's applied psychology department where I learned that what we think becomes what we feel becomes how we behave becomes what we believe.
Think about that for a moment...
what you think
over and over again
could turn into
what you believe
!
So next time you hear yourself thinking thoughts that you know aren't the best, just remember that you have control over your thoughts which can change the way you feel, behave, and what you believe. I walked away from this training feeling like I just had an epiphany. As rudimentary as this idea is, it's like a light bulb went off in my brain. I thought I'd pass it on in case anyone else could benefit from this.

Finally a Loss!
I've been frustrated as soon as I hit ONEderland after teeter tottering between 199.6 and 200.0 and then 201.8 briefly. But today, it looks like I'm pretty solidly in ONEderland again! I was also able to fit into my size 16 jeans I haven't worn in years. Woohoo!

My bathroom scale battery finally died this morning after almost a decade of usage. I'd say that's pretty good considering there was a point (not anymore thank goodness) that I was weighing every day.
So this means I can say whatever weight I want, right? :P
Here's a giggle for you all. Happy Friday!!

I normally don't post two in one day, but then again, I'm not normal :)
There is a turnstile at the campus gym that I use my staff ID card for. It didn't work today for some reason, I think the strip is going bad.
I looked over at the lady by the front desk and she said "No worries, hun...I see you every day, you can go on through". Her last comment was "You are one of the most consistent people I have seen this summer".
I smiled and thanked her although I literally have no clue who she is. I'm sure she's been there every day, but there's so many people around that I tend to not pay attention to who I walk past. I guess you could say, I'm in my own little world on a mission.
It just goes to show you that you never know who is watching you, so stay consistent and determined! She has no idea, but she made my day! I'm glad my card didn't work.
