I'm an environmental consultant for a large privately owned business. I'm married with one Son, and a Daughter on the way. When my Son was born I was close to the same age as my Father (now deceased) when I was born. I promised myself that I want to do all the things with my Son that my Father could never do with me (or he tried to do but didn't have the stamina to maintain).
In January 2010 I weighed in at 198 pounds. I haven't weighed that much since College, when I gained the freshmen 15, sophomore 20, etc. and sadly achieved a weight of 220 pounds. I wrestled in High School at an average weight of 139 pounds. I got married at 183 pounds. It is time to lose weight.
After a quick and dirty BMI calculation, my doctor told me a person of my height should weight 155-165, but my build (very broad shoulders) could put me into an acceptable weight of 170-175 pounds max.
In March 2010, I began eating healthier. I would eat actual portion sizes, more fruits and vegetables, and I cut my meat in-take by 75%. I also break up my breakfast and lunch meals throughout the day. I still eat a piece or two of dark chocolate at night and have the occasional tumbler of whiskey. I also allow myself to have a couple of beers over the weekend and eat a slice of pizza, or have chinese, etc.
I used to go spinning/cycling at th egym 3 times per week, but increasing work requirements made me drop down to 1 day per week. Nevertheless, I have since lost 16 pouds (198 down to 182). My goal is 175, but I would feel comfortable initiating a weight lifting program to tone up, which may mean initially I would gain some weight, but then by increasing my metabolism and building muscle I could burn fat more efficiently and obtain my goal weight.
