Hi people. I am back from my trip and back into the grind of calorie counting and IF. Need advice. I am awesome counting my Breakfast/Lunch calories because its always simple But when it comes to dinner I make meals with way more ingredients and sometimes my boyfriend helps or my brother so I have NO idea what they put into stuff. We make simple roasted veggies with a spray of olive oil etc. But how do you guys make dinner easier to count? Should I just make my own meals separate from my boyfriend and brother? Thanks :)

Veggies are pretty easy unless you want to be super picky. Put in the cooked in fat variety and you’ll be close. If you throw in butter, sour cream, or something else calorie driven for flavor, count it! You’ll see that if you try to put in every little component, it isn’t much different than just putting in the main ingredients. That’s what I do.

Thanks ! I figured as much. I finally got a oil sprayer which each spray is 1/4 tsp which is great. It gets trickier with butter unless i look at how much is cut. I try to estimate as best I can. I never count spices

Me too! Butter’s easy if you track what you put in. It’s gotta come out in the food! Some stays in the pan, but I think you can bet most is in your food.

If it is a repeat item that we have frequently - I add it to the cook book...then I can just add it from there...and for accuracy...As long as the major ingredients are counted for I am ok with that.

Wife and I do Hello Fresh dinners three times a week. When I am on my own, I will often try and do a recipe or something simple to track. If it has a lot of ingredients, I'll save it to the cook book.

@CMR I am using hello fresh now actually and I do like it but I am pescatarian and my boyfriend and brother eat regular, so trying to please us all is tough, I heard theres a similar thing to hellofresh but is a little more custom. Basically if I cant get my hands on seafood I eat vegetarian. So sadly for them I keep ordering the vegetarian meals unless I see one with fish :)

There is normally at least one fish recipe per week. My wife doesn't like shellfish and is sensitive to dairy, eggs, and bakers' yeast. She foregoes the creme sauces most of the time and will sub chicken for any recipe with shrimp.
