I joined a 12 week challenge at the gym where I work...starting weight 163 and my goal is to lose the 13 pounds I gained...so far so good!

I use the mobile app..... No issues scanning from an iPhone 6, not that this helps you much just not sure how or why you would be trying to scan from a safari web page? As for your calorie counts, if you want to make it more accurate, it will take some work on your part outside of the site. There is thermal loss in all foods eaten. Carbs 6-8%, Protein 25-30%, Fat 2-3%. I.e, if you eat 100gms of Protein, only 70-75 calories are available for you to possibly make use of. If you want to help ensure you have the capability to process that 70-75 calories worth of Protein, you could add in a prognostic supplement.
