Daddy Manatee's Journal, 18 October 2022

Decided to weigh in this morning. Pleasantly surprised I had dropped 1.5 pounds. I haven’t been to gym but I have been active and made a point to get a lot of walking in the last few weeks. I have also been eating better. So I am happy with this drop.

Unfortunately the percent body fat went up! So that means I have must have lost muscle so REALLY need to become more regular at the gym.
218.6 lb Lost so far: 6.4 lb.    Still to go: 18.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I am sure hoping the muscle returns quickly Mermee! I have decided I want to compete in a tournament out on by the karate dojo kids go to. I want to do the knock down fighting. I have a year to condition myself. So regular weight lifting is a must so I am also hoping consistency at the gym becomes a thing too. How has your schedule been? Still super busy? How are those twins? They enjoying school and looking forward to trick or treating. Can’t believe how fast that is approaching!!

Mermee I am so excited to hear the Twinkie’s are going to a farm on their first field trip. I have no idea why except I remember going to a farm in kindergarten. I guess it made that big of an impression on me. And since I am raising cattle now I think it’s really cool for them! My daughter and I have been going to a dojo since we moved to our new town a few years ago. This year she decided to try the knockdown fighting in the tournament our dojo puts on. I was super impressed she went for that event. I thought she would have sone point fighting but she went for the full contact event. I have always worked the back room staging area, and so after seeing her sign up for knockdown I decided I had better give it a go. But I am not going to do it this year, I’d get messed up going up against men who have trained much more than me, so I have a cool goal for next November. And my son is doing good. He gets up early in the morning to either swim or go to a study class. And wife is enjoying herself. She has made more new friends and is always out with one of them. Or she and and my sone are at Mcd grabbing a soda

Oh and did deadlifts today, first time in a month, exactly one month, last one I did was sept 21.

It’s important to be active. Remember though 80/20 rule, 80% of fitness is in the kitchen, 20% excercise. I had been lifting, was getting a lot stronger, getting heavier. Started boxing 1.5 months ago. Switched to HIIT to maximize cardio stacking, really get the heart rate going fast to build endurance. Wow you actually get a buzz off of HIIT, feel lit up. Well calorie deficit and HIIT/Boxing has been working so far. I know losing fat and muscle, but once I get down, will add weight training back in. Also my Kryptonite is fried chicken or Chinese food, makes me feel like a balloon. Eat low carb, almost Keto lots of veggies and meats, sometimes chicken and fish.
