mamamc7's Journal, 09 December 2017

So yesterday was kind of a “fasting” type day, not by choice, I didn’t grab any items for myself at the continental bfast to save... went to a local deli with my fam, planned to buy some just turkey, pickles and cheese... the owner said he doesn’t sell it that way, I said “so I want to buy a sandwich with just no bread”... “sorry we don’t do that.” Ughhhh I was so shocked and offended, sleep deprived and emotional that I just walked away... I wanted to cry. So I guess this has been a 36hr fast, not by choice 😱 but maybe good for my system? We shall see... I haven’t slept more than 4 hours total this week... still under mandatory evac. Spent up all our rent money and don’t know what to do next.

Going to snag some snack items today at the inn. Lesson learned.

Thanks 😊 hopefully if anything good can come from this, it will be some weight loss... I haven’t eaten much all week. Did enjoy the wine hour event at our cute Inn every night. But not going to like our $1765 bill when we check out tonight... may be heading north to stay with my sister... but that also sounds stressful to me. Being further from home and my community of hurting people. We also now have to load our car of our belongings and hope it all fits again. Trying to stay positive, heard there are Red Cross relief funds. Have to figure out how to apply.

If they say they don't serve it that way, I go ahead and get it and chunk out what I can't eat. I hate to throw food away but you got to pay for it either way. We learn to adapt.

Oh, GREAT job of dealing with your unintended fast! I've had such happen a number of times. I always pack my own food. If staying in a hotel, I shop at local grocery stores, then either buy one of those cheapie styrofoam coolers or use their trash can and line it with a trash bag and use hotel ice.

I was thinking back on Sept.12th 2017when hurricane Irma hit us with 130 mph winds not knowing what was going on around you was the scariest part..there bumps.crashing, thugs and bangs for 12hrs sitting in the dark praying that the roof wouldn't rip off.The next day everyone started coming out and looking around unbelievable destruction everywhere.I mean it looked like a war zone.We had no power for 2wks,potable water was contaminated.but the town came together.people gave what they could.there were lots of grills going, the supermarkets were passing the meats out and things like that because there's no power.it's back to normal until next yr. we keep our fingers crossed.California has wild fire's and Florida has hurricanes we have to live through it and hope for the best and now the FS community is Hoping the very best for You your Family and your Community.

Wow, sorry to hear THAT was his reaction to you wanting to better your health - I guess until it "hits home" for them, it's not important. I admire your strength of will.

you can still buy the sandwich and just take off the bread.

I'm allergic that type of cross contamination of bread would land me in bed and home for at least a week.

Thanks all! It is amazing to see community come Together after a tragedy. I had to move further north away from the smoke and ash, but I can't wait to get home and help others. My kids will be wrapping their toys/books and donating clothes for kids who lost their homes

Maybe visit the store again and explain, when you aren't so stressed? Many shops will do sandwiches in lettuce instead of bread, now that so many people need gluten-free.

You're amazing. Such resolve and commitment to continuing your WOE even in the midst of a situation that many people would allow to be an excuse to revert to old habits. I continue to pray for you and all of the families impacted.
